You know your audience best, Mo, and I come from a pretty different cultural space --- but I think skinnies can be hotter than skirts, given the right attitude and body, which I think you have in spades! I'm voting skinnies for standing out in the crowd!

(Oh and especially if it's a mixed crowd --- I'd want tips from both genders and all ages, so why let body envy from the young female things get in the way of that? But again, you know your audience, so see if that's really applicable...)

Mo, as an over 40 I just want to say that you can SO wear the mini. You have the best legs:) But on a practical note I wonder if the skinnies might be easier and more comfortable to work in. If you do go for the skirt, you will give the 20 somethings a run for their money

Do you have to bring drinks to the tables or you are just behind the bar? There was one year where we had to wear skirts at the catering hall I worked on, I did both waitressing and bartending, and felt so unconfortable when needing to bend over to put the drinks on the table. The skirt was a little short.
If you are behind the bar I see no issue.
I like both options. Wear whatever makes you feel more fab!

Was just going to bring up the issue Zapotee did... don't know how much work your bar-backs will do (getting ice, hauling supplies, bending over to pick things up). I totally think you could carry off the mini, with tights and flat boots as it sounds like you'd planned, but from a practical standpoint, might you feel better in the skinnies?

Since you've worn a mini to bartend in before, seems like you have a handle on how it works, practically speaking. As far as how you feel though -- I would go with whatever makes you feel sparkling and festive and exuberant for NYE! You would rock both

Boy, a whole lot of perspectives here on this! Thanks for all the input. I think I am going to have to put on both outfits and post them up for a final vote off hee hee.
I do not have a bar back for day shift, so I will be carrying ice, stocking liquor from the storage room, and running up the stairs to the kitchen occasionally for food orders. I won't be waiting on tables - there will be a server on the floor. But they are high tops anyway, so no serious bending over Comfortable shoes is the most important part of any work outfit. Pants or skirt isn't really a factor in getting the job done.
To be clear, I'm not looking to 'sex it up' so much as be festive and attractive!

I like this outfit and I know you have the legs to pull it off. You have great legs for shorter skirts so I vote yes. It's a fun look!
