Oooh, I'm excited for you, Ramya! Barcelona is such a fantastic city. I would definitely recommend a scarf and a trench coat (umbrella optional, you can get one in the large department stores when it starts to rain, yep been there, done that;-) and comfortable shoes, Barcelona is a fabulous walking city.
Fun things to do:
- A walk along the harbour and the seafront - lots of tapas restaurants there (queso Manchego and pan catalán are delicious veggie tapas).
- As a foodie you'll love La Bocadería (food market), just off the Ramblas.
- A visit to Park Güell, La Pedrera, Casa Batlló and La Sagrada Familia (Gaudí).
- If you are interested in modern art, the Miró or Picasso museum.
- The Castell de Montjuïc and beautiful views over the Mediterranean.
- The Olympic Stadium.
- Just walking around the city centre you'll encounter plenty of shops (international brands and Spanish stores, Spanish leather goods are particularly interesting and there used to be a few brilliant design - interior decorating and gifts - shops too). Two quality brands you'll definitely find here are Mandarina Duck (Italian bags) and Camper (footwear).
Have a marvelous time!!
