Bangs on the brain - YouLookFab Forum

I can't afford to get my hair cut so I'm probably going to end up growing it out whether I want to or not. I figured I can at least keep myself entertained by fooling around with my bangs. At this point I can either grow them out or cut them differently, but they are not working the way they are. They are super annoying and constantly falling in my face.

And since someone will probably ask: I can't go without bangs. I have lots of baby hairs at my hairline and bangs just look nicer and neater.

This picture sort of shows the problem: they do not blend with the rest of my hair and they try to behave like "normal" bangs that just fall straight down:

I'm not really asking to necessarily choose from these pictures. I'm just showing what I have had in the past and already tried. I'm willing to see other examples of styles if anyone has any. I looked at a site Taylor showed me, but most of the styles were too short and I can't do short bangs.

All of the pictures are very pretty but I would not be able to take the bangs always getting in my face so I know why you are frustrated.
I LOVE the last picture and it looks like you have no bangs there. It looks to me like the hair is long and side swept and out of your face which looks beautiful. I also love your dangly easrrings with your long hair. I didn't see the post where you explained why you gave up the dangly earrings but maybe they were too heavy.
I bet having straight across bangs gets old after a while so I'd say your other option would be the last.

I LOVED all your different looks. It is fun to see your different styles... You are so VERY pretty!!

I bet your stylist would do a bang trim *no charge* if you called her and said I just need my bangs touched up.:) perhaps have her wisp them out a bit:) I do it all the time..takes a couple secs.:)

But growing them out is certainly an option , because you look great w/no bang also. Sorry you couldn't find a bang on the website...I looked too and didn't see anything either...this is one of those ...*more art than science* things when it comes to bangs.

You can wear your hair just about any way because you are pretty enough, and I LOVE how well we can see the color of your new glasses in that one shot

I am completely useless on this matter but I just wanted to say that you look great in your pictures. You have a beautiful smile and look absolutely dashing!

To be clear, I do have bangs in the last picture, but they are very long and swept up in my sunglasses.

Taylor, I'm hesitant to have my bangs trimmed only because I don't really know what to do with them. I think they start too far to the side, where my part is. I guess that's part of the problem: I like having a side part, but I can't have my bangs start that far over without them falling in my face.

I like your hair parted on the side, also. You look great in all of the photos and it's wonderful that you can wear so many different looks so well. I think I'm a little partial to the long side swept bangs, but I can understand your frustration with them falling in your eyes. Still, you do look pretty adorable in that picture holding the little pumpkin!

Maya, I empathize - I have similar issues. I need a bang because otherwise my forehead looks HUGE but I hate when they are constantly in my eyes. Though I always get them cut so they are right above my brow line, I like them best when they grow to the point when I can tuck them behind my ear which gives me the side swept look without having them hang in front of my eyes. You could also trying parting slightly more to the middle (not in the middle) which would give you less bang in your face.

I think the first long sideswept bangs could work, it's just that they tend to look a little stringy sometimes (the pumpkin ones were cute but annoying). Although, in that picture my hair is a lot longer. If I grew my bangs out to that length now, they would be the same length as my hair...i.e. not bangs. So I guess if they were a bit shorter, they might not look as stringy.

This was the picture I brought to my stylist when I cut my hair short, but my bangs weren't long enough to get the exact same style. I think I'll try growing them:

Cute photo,... and you are right , also back to my original thought. Side bangs work better longer rather than shorter.

This is a super cute style, and still layered, so you still have some bang per se. (if you pulled it back into a short pony...you could drop out some long strands) ... this would look super on you.:)

I wish I hadn't lost patience last month and hacked them off, otherwise they would probably be approaching the right length by now. Oh well, I always complain that my bangs grow too fast so hopefully now that will be a blessing and not a curse.

Ha,:) Maya, You are not alone..everyone *hacks off* their bangs in frustration...even me:)...give them a couple more weeks and they should be beyond that awful length:)

Is that do-able at all? I know it's easy for the Hollywood It Girls to keep their bangs out of their faces with a cadre of professionals on tap, not sure about the rest of us. Taylor, how is KH keeping her hair in place? I don't envision our Maya as much of a hairspray girl...

Any sort of anything swooshing into my face would send me OVER THE EDGE. I don’t know how Kyle and Shiny do it! Such skill! They have the Katie Holmes and Posh hair do and seem to cope fine – looks very pretty too!

Maya, I don’t have an answer I’m afraid. Unless your fringe is short and straight, it’s going to drive you batty. Well, it would drive me batty - perhaps you less batty. There are loads of people keeping sunglasses on their heads all day because their fringes annoy them. That looks silly to me – keeping your sunglasses on at work indoors to keep your hair out of your eyes! It’s like having a long hairstyle and tying it up in a pony tail 24/7. It's beyond my understanding.

I say hack and layer, but I guess you don't want to do that. Sorry :0(

Maya, I sympathize. Last year a stylist decided without consulting me that I needed some fringe. (I never went back to her!) My solution was to grow it all out. I part a little to the side usually although DH likes it parted in the middle like my hippie days. If it starts to drive me crazy it's long enough to tuck behind my ear. Good luck with this.

I do not mind having my hair a little bit in my face. I just hate it when it ends up covering most or all of one eye (as in the pumpkin picture). I know it's supposed to be alluring and whatever but it's ANNOYING. Unless I want to look like a 12 year old with a huge nose, short and straight across is not an option. I need my bangs to hit around brow-length and no shorter.

By the way I did not keep them behind my sunglasses because they were getting in the way. I just felt too lazy to put them in my bag.

Basically it looks like I have no bangs, even though I do, because my hair is so fine and flat.

Joy, I can't believe anyone would cut bangs and not even tell you. You must have been having a panic attack when you saw those scissors snipping across your forehead. I know I would!
