Three-season black slacks were the single item on my 2016 shopping list.

I thought finding well-fitting black slacks would be easy. It wasn't. I lost count of the number of slacks I tried on at nearly every single retailer. It was quite demoralizing. I was just about to give up when quite by accident I happened upon these Banana Republic slacks. They fit. They felt good. I was thrilled.

While I was trying on black slacks I also tried on these kut from the kloth jeans. I bought them too. They represent one step toward building my denim capsule.

I am feeling extremely lucky and satisfied.

I have had those Diana skinny black jeans for some time and they are a favorite. I wash them in the machine in cold water, hang to dry, and they haven't faded. I like the BR slim pants and would be trying them if I needed a pair. I recently refreshed with an EF black pant that was on sale. They look and feel great and should work nearly year round, but I wish that they were a bit slimmer.

Oh Angie -- I had not realized the kut from the kloth were a top find. That makes me even happier. Your introduction of this brand to me was such a godsend. The brand fits me better than any others on the market right now. They are long enough to suit my taste and they are extremely comfortable. Some Amazon.com commenters suggested that this particular pair of kut from the kloth jeans fit and felt more like jeggings. I'm thoroughly ok with that.

And yes, given their dark wash, I may try to wear these to work (on Fridays).

I'm struggling with pant fits this year, too, although black is covered, white dressy jeans are my HEWI.

As for the jeans -- I think you are going to love the Kut from the Kloth brand. I have three pairs of Kut jeans (different styles) and I reach for them all the time. Enjoy your new purchases.

Struggling here too as some AT and Talbots fits don't seem quite right anymore and I have not found another brand yet that " gets me".
Maybe ignoring it for awhile will bring good luck.

That's great! I know it's a big day for me when I find two pairs of pants that fit and flatter.

By chance I found black skinny jeans in a Marshall's in Texas that finally worked for me -- I saw that they were Lucky Brad "Lolita" fit in the size that I have blue Lolita bootcuts, so I took a chance and bought them without even trying them on, which I almost never do (I knew I could return them easily enough). Happily, they worked out.

I should probably keep an eye out for dressier black trousers to replace my old ones -- I think they are at least 10 years old, wide leg, and starting to show the wear (even though I don't wear them often anymore). They are a big part of my "somber occasion" capsule, and last time I wore them in January, I didn't feel very fab. Ugh, pants are hard!

Great finds! I've tried the new Ryan fit at BR and they are quite nice. Not too skinny/snug with a nice straight leg.

Apparently BR has re-tooled their pant fits this season. One thing I have noticed with the Ryan and the Sloan is that the rises are lower. I'm 5' and have always bought petite dress pants at BR. But they no longer fit (rise is too short) and I'm into the regulars.

One year after a weight flux I needed all new slacks for work. I tried on a pair at BR that fit beautifully and ended up ordering 4 or 5 others. They just happened to have a lot of choice in fabric and colors that year. It's wonderful that you found slack and jeans that work. Yay!!
