Bamboo socks

Has anyone tried bamboo socks? I’m wondering how soft and how warm they are. I saw an ad from Baggu for bamboo socks. I know, I’m slightly obsessed with socks! My favourite socks right now are alpaca.

I love them Rachylou, I have some from Bam (well actually they send me a pair around my birthday for being a customer). I find them to be slightly thicker than cotton, very soft but they do take slightly longer to dry.

I have several pairs of bamboo socks by Thought, and I love them. They're very soft (almost silky), not too thin (I agree with RoseandJoan that they're thicker than cotton) and as of now they're proving rather durable.

Very cute! I've never had bamboo socks but I know bamboo yarns are very soft so makes sense socks would be soft.

I think I live them but have not tried that brand.
I have a pair of black socks with word BAMBOO printed on each toe- have had for years, maybe got at TJMAXX? They work perfectly with a sneaker I use only indoors for exercises, so I’ve kept them focused on that. They are soft but with just enough thickness for my bunion- weary feet.
I would love to duplicate but have not found similar online, & haven’t pulled trigger on other types.
I would prefer to see some IRL, to feel the fabric.

I haven't tried socks, but I don't think Bamboo will be anywhere near as warm as alpaca. Bamboo does have natural antibacterial properties, though- so great for sweaty feet.

I have several pairs from Foot Traffic -- they seem to be discontinued now, but mine have held up for years and years. they're soft and tough. I have them in a lightweight version for summer and a heavier version as well -- was just wearing the heavier ones yesterday.

Cute socks. They will be more like cotton, I would not expect them to be warm. I would check that the seam is not thick and tough. Let us know if you order them.

Very cute. I prefer cotton/modal or cotton ones since some bamboo tees gave me overheated reaction similar to poly ( depends on the brand I guess ).

Ok! Seem worth a go! I feel I used to be able to wear ‘rougher’ socks and I didn’t notice: now I do. I have these wool socks (not the alpaca) that now feel like they’ve beek knitted from wire. They’re in fine condition, they’re just not a fine yarn…

Ohh didn't know Bamboo socks existed!! So I read in the comments that they are thicker and softer than cotton, so is it safe to assume that they are warmer? I live in a cold place so it would fit me very well

No experience with bamboo - sorry. My favourite socks are alpaca as well. A gift. Or sure who makes them. Like Unfrumped’s mystery bamboo socks, mine just say “Alpaca’ on the side of the foot part.

I've been accumulating coloured & patterned socks over the years! Have 5 bamboo ones from Sockshop (via TK Maxx) & only now are *some* of them starting to develop tiny holes after 3-4 years. So pretty good wear, considering!

I've never used alpaca socks before - are they itchy? That's why I've only ventured into merino wool so far in clothing - can't stand itchiness!

(I'd say bamboo is between cotton & wool, a bit thicker than modal - they work fine for milder temps but sometimes I will have to 'double wrap' them (with a thicker sock on top) if temps dip below ~10C).

I’m liking the idea of something between cotton amd wool. Alpaca is the softest wool I know of. My other wool socks feel like walking on cheese graters. I’m over them!

I have never tried bamboo socks, but we do have a bamboo throw and it's very soft and durable and washes well, so I say go for it!

I have not tried Bamboo socks but am willing to try them. Right now my favorite socks are smart wool without padding or Hue metallics.

Love bamboo socks. They are so soft. I have leggings too made from bamboo but find cotton better in terms of wearing as the bamboo is getting thin. Bamboo undies are great too.

Thanks for the alpaca tip! Peruvian Connection sells some cool but pricey alpaca socks that I've always avoided, just because I assumed they would be itchy (like mohair)...

...Once you start buying nicer socks though, it can be addictive!

Hi Rachy,

Delurking to say I remember your love of socks and socks and socks. How have you never tried bamboo socks before now? I enjoy bamboo a lot. I find them very soft and silky. They last fine, but not the longest wearing. They won't be the warmest. I like them when I can find them.
