I was having some serious dress envy and run to an anthropology store to try the dress.
I had no choice in terms of color but I like this orange one.
Should I keep this dress? It was expensive and it is my last purchase for a long time.
What are your thoughts on this?

The length "issue" could be due to the camera angle which seems to be at a slight downward angle. It's hard to tell.

I think the dress looks nice on you! I'm uncertain how this dress would look shortened though.

Since you brought it up, I think it does emphasize the pear shape on you... though that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Celia! Nice to see you post again! The dress has potential! It needs to be a good deal shorter though (as the ladies have said) and I'm wondering whether you shouldn't purchase the shorter one that Laura found instead of fiddling with this one?

Celia, I think it looks super sexy but would need to be shortened, and I'm worried that might spoil the line of it. But if it can be shortened without interfering with the diagonal pattern and the cut (because if shortened, the bottom might have to be narrowed in order to mimic the original design...otherwise it might end up A line on you) then I think it could be worth it for a going out dress. I can really imagine how gorgeous you look IRL in this colour with your lovely eyes.

I agree with the others that your figure looks great, but the length is overwhelming and the dress might lose something through too much shortening. I hope you can find the shorter version. I do love the color!

I bought the Macy's look alike (cheaper) and am wondering about the same issue of being pear shaped. Mine is not quite so long though. Did you see the sleeveless version at Anthropologie?

Celia, the fit looks great and is quite nice, but it does look long. I am only 5'1" and this looks longer on you - how tall are you?

Another thought - before you actually decide to shorten or return it, perhaps experiment with pulling it down lightly over your hips so the fabric drapes as it will - since the dress has multiple layers of fabric and drapes so prettily, it doesn't have to be pulled down completely taut. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not. Basically, what I've discovered through wearing it is that the dress has a little flexibility depending on how far I pull it down across my hips while I'm putting it on - if I want the dress to end a little bit higher, I just let it drape a little more loosely.

I would try to hem it and wear with nude hose and nude shoes (with a small heel). Post a photo so that we can see!

@Una I don't know what is wrong with it because I am 5,4 and it really looks much longer than anyone I saw so far.
@Kari I do understand what you are saying and I tried it.it doesn't work.

Turns out DH has a very strong opinion about this dress.In his own words' You look very good in that dress, I have never seen you like that' He especially likes it in this color and the shorter version doesn't come in orange.

Trying it at home I found out that the fabric was clinging too much.So I went and sized up.Also I am going to shorten it.

I will post pictures to see how we can make DH and me happy about this purchase.

I maintain that if I have to alter a full priced item considerably, it may not be worth it. It just sounds like too much work.
