Back to YLF: thrift store finds!

Hi darlings!!

I have been away for so long!! I post earlier this year, but didn't get back here after. I had major postpartum complications and it was 4 months before I was on my feet again.

And then, the pregnancy weight I had gained has taken time to shed. I just didn't feel beautiful, know what to wear, or anything. I felt completely dazed and out of sorts until recently. Not to mention we bought a house and moved, and life in general is so much fuller with a husband and baby to care for.

My hourglass shape hasn't changed drastically (hips are a bit wider, but that's pretty good considering I gained 60 lbs!) and I'm now about 10 lbs from my happy weight. I'm finally feeling better, healthier, more balanced, and at peace.

So wanted to pop by and say hi with my recent finds! Our little mountain town has a rebuy/thrift store. The owner thrifts for really nice, like new clothing and then resells it for modest prices.

Pic #1-2: Boston Proper blouse, JCrew belt. Both items were NWT

I haven't worn the belt yet. It's silk and rhinestones, and I just was waiting for my waist to return

The blouse is honestly spectacular!! (Though who would pay $169 for a polyester satin blouse?) It is the most intense fuchsia satin. I had to find a lip gloss to wear with it, as any pink too red based looks odd. I feel like this is one of my strongest colors, as I constantly receive compliments on how beautiful I look--not just how pretty the blouse is.

Pic #3: JCrew chambray shirt, NWOT

Pic #4: like new WOT Italian made leather boots. In my favorite butterscotch color!! These have been worn perhaps a few times and haven't a mark or scuff on them. There is absolutely no designer or maker stamp on them, simply "made in Italy." But the quality is incredible.

Pic #5: reference for shape. Still hourglass with pear tendencies in hips. ☺️

Sorry not to have any full length photos to post of me wearing anything. Wanted to post and didn't have a chance to snap some. But...Planning to post some WIW with FL photos this week. I just found a few more items there this weekend and would love some feedback.

You look beautiful Keturah, and you have a BEAUTIFUL body shape! I love in #1 how your lippy picks up the colour in your top. Mind sharing the brand and colour name?

By the way, I have never known anyone named Keturah, but I immediately associate the name with Abraham's second wife. (The Bible book of Genesis, chapter 25) Is Keturah a common name where you live or grew up?

So nice to see you! Motherhood suits you beautifully - you look gorgeous! I have found a lot of super high quality "made in Italy" no name shoes and boots over the years (I live next to Italy in a way.) Anyway they are usually super high quality and these look to be the same. The pink was made for you. Hope to see more soon!

Beautiful finds and the bright fuchsia is gorgeous on you. You inspire me to go thrifting. You are doing great with getting off the baby weight. It can take a year or more.

Oh my goodness all the changes in the growth in the baby in the husband then the new house so many things. Wow I love that you took the time to go thrifting a. Congratulations on losing the baby weight it is such a slow thing for me 6 months out but okay such is life. I love your outfits get a selfie stick that helps so much.

The Cat, oh how cool you noticed! My dad was reading Genesis when he saw Keturah. Since my parents were expecting their first child (me!), they thought it would be a beautiful name for a girl. It's definitely not a popular name, and hasn't been commonly used since the early 1800s. I get a lot of inquiries and comments on it lol!

Runcarla, thank you <3 BTW, love your blonde curls! The gloss is super, super cheap! It's Wet 'n Wild MegaSlicks gloss, color 548D. Bought it for $1.99 at Walmart! There is a fine, barely-there micro shimmer in the tube. But once applied, it is nonexistent and doesn't show up at all. My guess is it is used to help bring out the color. Revlon has a similar colored gloss. But it was $8/tube, and honestly, this does the trick. WNW also has a lipstick in the same shade. However, it was so saturated and opaque, I felt it might be too much.

DizzyLizzy, I really hunted for this gloss!! The thrift store is a huge gift, especially in a little town outside Denver! These days I don't have the energy I once did to hit the big city and shop. Probably because I usually have little man with me ha!

shevia, Hello!!!! So lovely to see you again! Thank you, I love motherhood so much. The boots are exactly as you describe. I hope I can find more of them! I have always done so much darker plums and burgundies, so this pink is a refreshing change!

Joy, I was extremely impatient to lose the weight at first. I finally relaxed; the weight really came off once I weaned at 4 months. I haven't been able to thrift for a few years. So this is a huge joy for me! Hope you find a nice thrift store to frequent

Ledonna, the selfie stick is a great idea!! Thank you and thank you for the compliment! Thrift store is only a 5-10 min walk from our house--maybe too close?? Definitely has been a lot of changes. I am still working to get out of the house more, and perhaps find a way to have an hour or two of alone time each week.

Barbara Diane, thank you. It has definitely been a lot to adjust to. I think that is particularly why I am so keen to get back into shape. It's something familiar, and something important to me that isn't attached to baby, husband, family, moving, etc.

And the fuschia... my heart did flip flops when I saw that blouse!! I have been avoiding color for so long. I get stuck in a rut of dark neutrals, and of being afraid to take risks. Slowly but surely learning to be bold and shine!

I love it too, and just HAD to show you this 2015 photo of when my best friend and I flew from Auckland to Melbourne to the Miss Fisher garden party at Rippon Lea estate ( which is standing in as Aunt Prudence's house in the series). They had all sorts of fun garden party stuff there including vintage cars as well as the Miss Fisher clothing exhibition inside the house. We both dressed up as Miss Fisher as we could.
