Hi everyone,
I came here last year asking about Dansko Olgas. The community voted up, overwhelmingly, for the Suede ones, and by the time I figured out my size (they have European sizing), my size was sold out. So I decided to rest my search.
Wiser this time, I started early. Now, I have two great finds and I want to run my choices by the fashionistas here.
First, to recap my requirements:
- Function is important to me, high heels cannot work due to my foot issues. In fact I have removed Olga from my consideration because it comes with no cushion on the footbed.
- My body type is inverted triangle. Height 5'4".
- I have thin calves. My calves are ~10" round.
- I dress modestly, i.e. with leggings, I prefer to cover my back side. Skinny jeans and thick ponte leggings are my favorite, and I plan to wear my boots with those.
- I do not wear dresses/skirts a lot, although I am open to the possibility with leggings in winter of course.
- I am still in love with Slouch styles, and from the advice I researched on this site, for my body type, they serve to balance my heavy top nicely. (My style is casual, bohemian, modern).
- Budget: quite generous, but prefer function over just fancy names.

Also, I really do not see myself buying another boot for a long long time. Whatever I buy now will stay with me till it falls apart. So it's important to have a pair that lasts long. So black is my choice, since it dresses up a lot of outfits.

Now, over to my choices:
1. Frye Veronica Slouch : (Need I say more?) I plan to wear it slouchy, not straight up. I also saw some pics with celebrities *folding* the top, they all look really chic, but when I tried it in the store, I could not fold the top (could be because initially the leather is stiff?). Calf size: 14".

This boot, however, does not seem to have a cushioned footbed. (I have ordered my size online and awaiting shipment).
2. Clarks' Mansi Juniper:

I just got this one delivered. So far, I'm in love, but the leather is not as soft/supple as the Veronica. I tried it on in the store, and the store person told me that it's expected to loosen up with use, but I am not sure how long it will take. Nice part is that it has cushioned footbed - that makes it comfortable walking with 2 inch heel. Calf size: 15". Also, can be expanded but not made narrower.

Any thoughts? Any pointers to make decision making easier? One more thing: I do not want to keep both (tempting, but no).

Thank you very much,
Madie.
