Hello, everyone. I just wanted to thank all of you for your support, both in the forum and in private messages. I SO appreciated your kindness and sympathy.
I'm home now. My mother has the green light to manage stairs on her own. She is frail and weak, but the immediate emergency is over.
And once again, I can wear colour! More on that in a future post, I hope. But for now, let me say that while it did indeed get pretty dull wearing nothing but basic neutrals for an entire 3 weeks, it also wasn't THAT far off my usual! Which made me realize that I still have some serious work to do on my wardrobe.
One thing I figured out pretty quickly was that more than colour, per se, I craved texture and pattern. The neutrals I'd brought along with me (thinking I was heading out for a three day travel capsule) happened to be the MOST neutral and MOST basic items I own! So if I hadn't had my two scarves (both neutrals, but at least patterns and textures), I'd have been well and truly bored out of my mind. I really missed my patterned blue/off white/grey A line skirt, for example (fairly neutral...but at least a pattern). And I missed having a choice of (neutral but patterned) jackets. The jackets I had with me (collarless denim and black crepe) are fine, but after a couple of weeks I got sick of them.
Oh, and I also DEPENDED on my red coat.
Here's today's colour (worn with skinnies). Please excuse the hair. I am at least three weeks overdue for cut and won't be able to get one for another two weeks because my stylist is all booked up. Sigh...
Thank you, again, and I hope to post a couple of my less boring "month of neutrals" challenge outfits soon, along with a special surprise.
You are ALL so FAB!
PS ETA: here is my new yellow bag! Won't it be fun to wear (if a bit matchy-matchy) with my shoes?
