All is OK
Monday afternoon I took the kid skating... long story short, falling on the ice and being overtired (after he was soooo excited to go again, as we have the ice rink in the city centre installed during the Christmas market) meant that he could not really tell whether he was hurting or not, so he had to stay in the hospital overnight and then one more night as that's the procedure with possible head injuries.
He is OK, his usual self, we're back home. Apart from having to be quite still and not move much while at the hospital, he even managed to have fun! This morning just before we left he was even telling one nurse "You are very pretty to me". Yup, charm switched on 100%.
The whole situation was my worst nightmare - ending up in the hospital with a child unsure I'd be able to communicate in a foreign language. I think I was more than anything afraid I'd miss an important bit of information, but it was actually OK. He was just fine the morning after, which was the most important thing - then he did most of the talking anyway. Relying on my 6yo, that's life.
Now it's back to reality, which feels a bit strange as I was in a proper bubble for two days. And since I need to catch up on those two days of preparing for the upcoming trip, I may be absent from the forum for the next few days.
Btw, I was so lucky to have been wearing comfortable and layered clothing when we went to the ice rink, so that later when we had to stay in the hospital I could actually take some of those layers off and have 'fresh' ones for the day after. I have a new appreciation of "you never know when you may end up in the hospital".
And I definitely love my own pillow and my bed even more than ever before
