Baby boy! And new boots question ...

I've been absent from YLF for a few weeks ... we moved 6 days before our baby boy was born! Baby is doing great. I'm feeling good too.

I've been wanting Frye Veronica boots for almost a year, but the cost is just about more than I can justify and I have not actively saved money for them. If I actually put cash in an envelope, maybe that would accumulate faster than I imagine. You know, just the simple $5 here and there that can be saved just by not getting a coffee or extra treat somewhere.

Anyway, I saw these boots http://www.zappos.com/product/7653047/color/240106 I like them too, but wonder if I would just be settling for something I like but have just recently "found."

Congratulations on the baby!

I do like the Born boots, but they're not the same style as the Frye's. I think if you really like the Frye's, you should save up for them, unless you're approaching winter without any boots.

Can't help on the boots except to say, do you have any boots already? $185 is still a lot to pay and it would make it less likely that you'd buy the Fryes for a very long time. Can you survive with what you've got?

Congratulations on your sweet precious baby boy! I hope you're getting some rest.

The boots is a tough call. Born are certainly a good quality boot and so it's not like you're skimping on quality there, but like Janet said, it sounds like you'd be choosing the Born over the Frye's. Is that going to satisfy your boot purchase or are you going to still be pining for the Frye's? Do you like them as well as the Fryes?
Conversely, is saving for the Frye's going to mean something else you have to pass on?

Congrats on your baby boy! I've been coveting Fryes for a long time as well and just bit the bullet and ordered them from shoes.com - there's a coupon that gets 20 % discount, but it's still substantial and even though I haven't received them yet (next Tuesday!), I'm thinking of returning them and maybe getting a different color for xmas from my DH, but I'm not even sure if they'll fit the way I think they will.. Anyways, they have three colors:black, brown and charcoal (I really really would love gray but it's out of stock everywhere) - I ordered charcoal but after checking the pictures on various websites, I'm not sure about the color. Well, I'll see.
Anyways, if you really really would love the Fryes, I'd wait and save away and get them (that's how I got expensive stroller for my little one, I set up a 'stroller jar').Amazing, how fast change adds up!

Yes, you're right ... I think I will still want the Fryes. I have Born boots that I love, with a stacked heel, but want something flat for more casual wear. So I know I like Born quality. The Fryes are a league above though.

Actually, when I went back and really read the detailed description of the Born boots, I realize that particular style will be too tall for me. So at least I can easily eliminate those.

I should just save my pennies.

Since I'm needing to make an investment purchase with the Fryes, I want a timeless style. So while I love the Veronica, I wonder it will be a more dated look than the Cindy? http://www.zappos.com/frye-cin.....ge-leather

I have been reading all those posts from people who were able to order Frye Veronicas for 150 or so during some crazy sales - I hope maybe this year they will happen again... Sundancecatalog.com supposedly had them....

How is the new house?

Have you tried on the Veronica's? I had them on again yesterday (my client bought them) and they really are killer boots. I have not seen the Born ones yet.

Congratulations and welcome back !! And of course a welcome to the world to your wonderful new addition.

As for the boots....I really like the Born boots and Born shoes are uber-comfy. However, if you really want the Fryes then try to save up because you may never be happy if you feel that you settled. ( I have had personal experience in that !!!! )

I agree - they're very different styles. And the Cindy slouch is very different, too.

I could be wrong, but to me, the Veronica is a bit more casual & edgy, and the Cindy is a bit more refined. What do you think your primary style is?

I can tell you, when I tried on the Frey Rory, which looks to be a similar leather to the Cindy - I was amazed. It really is "buttery." Very luxe! I was really upset they didn't work for me. Definitely a beautiful, quality boot.

I'd love to see pictures on the Veronicas on someone!
