I'm back from Azores!

Missed you all and missed shopping so much.. well.. in Ponta Delgada I manage to escape from my hubby and 3 children and scored two fab dresses at massimo dutti sales

The Archipelago of the Azores is composed of nine volcanic islands situated in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean approximately 1500 km from the European coast.
The climate is spectacular! Azores has a maritime climate characterised by agreeable temperatures with small average annual variance. Even when it rains it's warm!

People live mainly from the agriculture, dairy cattle and the production of milk, fishing is another important industry ( I ate a lot of fish there!). Some decades ago, these people lived from the fishing of whales (they used everything, the meat, the fat, the bones). Since 1987 fishing whales is forbiden. I went with the kids on a whale watching activity and it was impressive.. the boat was small, the sea is not calm there and those are big animals..

The islands of the archipelago were formed through volcanic and seismic activity and another impressive thing to see are the warm vulcanic water that come from the ground.. I have of photo showing people cooking a famous dish on the ground (they bury the pots, with all the ingredients for the stew (meat, potatoes, vegetables) and the hot of the ground is all they need to cook).

As to fashion.. well life is very simple, it's all very casual .. very few clothes stores.. I wore mostly casual dresses and jeans (and my not so fab outfits for trekking and whale watching.. that I must show latter just for fun!)

Loved everything.. it's really breathtaking.. magical! Hope you enjoy.
