I want to thank the Australian forum members for bringing their style, grace, humour and flawless manners to this forum. You are geographically so far away yet you feel close by because of your warmth and spunk.

I LOVE that YLF members cover all corners of the globe! It's unusual that this forum has quite a large number of Australian members which seems to be growing by the week. Years ago, Anne was are only Auzzie forum member until Tam joined her. Now they have company and it makes me very happy.

Rock on Auzzie forum members!

Thanks for the shout out Angie! I love the fact that people from all over the globe can help to inspire me in so many ways and help me strive to be a fashionista like so many of the lovely ladies on here. I have come across no other forum like this based in Australia so it's the only place I can come to for honest and helpful advice.

On that note I thought it would be nice to share a pic of Fraser Island which is about 2.5hours north of where I live - it is the largest sand island in the world. This is a plane coming in to land on the beach that I hesitantly went on (terrified of heights) but thoroughly enjoyed it after all.

Awww Angie thiss post tickled me pink as I ate my porridge this morning. I love that there are other AUssies around too. It can be hard to hear all about winter/autumn fashions when we are sweltering in the heat and vice versa. The local scoop on sales etc is always handy too!!!

I hope that one day some of you will come down and visit Aus!!!!

I totally agree with everything the other Aussie ladies have said - this place is so fabulous and its so wonderful to feel so at home despite the massive physical gap and be able to share you with some other simply amazing ladies from both here and around the globe.

And seriously, if any of you ever do make it over here, you know you have some tour guides who will be MORE than happy to take you in and show you the local highlights!

Yay! Thanks Angie! This forum has had me hooked since day one and I love the honest feedback from all y'all.

I'm fairly new here but I've been reading the blog for a few months now and I just love coming on here, it's one of the first things I do when I get on my computer in the morning and I always try to get on here in the evening as well.

WOW!!! I just came home from a frustrating morning at work (gggggrrrrrr grumpy parents and even grumpier children) and it has really made me smile to see this lovely post!

I absolutely LOVE participating in this forum and feel like I'm part of a very special global community. Whilst I'm a very proud seventh generation Australian, my hubby is from England and my lovely SIL is from the US, so I feel an extra strong personal connection to you Northern Hemisphere ladies as well as the wonderful, funny, gorgeous and social Aussie girls!

If you ever get the opportunity to come over and visit us down here, it is well worth the long plane flight!

PS - Aussie Girls, if ever given the opportunity to play tour guide, I bags personally showing our visitors our #1 tourist hot-spot, The Big Banana! (Bwahahahahahahah! No need to be jealous, first in best dressed, so they say!)

Well Angie, I'm afraid I can only answer your question with a question - How could you NOT want to see the big banana? I mean, look at it in all its big, yellow, curvy glory! (tee -hee!)

PS - The only downside that I must warn visitors about is that I can't vouch for the tastiness of the choc-coated banana on a stick though. The concept of it works, the reality......

Awww, thanks Angie, and everyone else who's chimed in. I love having the international expertise here, but having some lovely Aussie ladies to alert me to sales and share my weather frustrations with is just wonderful. Although reading the blog was a real eye-opener, I wasn't very consistent with applying the advice until I had you all egging me on here in the forums.

I'm all the way over in Perth, a continent away from most of you. And sadly, not nearly enough Big Anythings! I'll claim a lovely wine region and some beautiful golden beaches though, if anyone's keen for a visit.

An my jaw just dropped seeing that picture. I grew up in Victoria and would move back there in a heartbeat. Are you near the ski fields by any chance?

KP I love the Big Banana - so kitch and 70's and I always want to stop there whenever we drive down to Sydney. Do you live around that area?

Sharon I am on the outskirts of Brissy towards Ipswich. I dont think the Big Merino is open anymore - that's the one at Goulbourn right?

Anne I think I know your general direction - any nice wines around there?

Stringy - I so want to go to Perth, never been there and it's only the cost and the flight time that puts me off. My DH is actually over your way next week and he almost was there for a weekend and was going to fly me over as well so that would have been great to catch up with you. Maybe next time!

Karen, I actually live in North Brisneyland, about 8-9kms out of the city. I just love it here (although I am still trying to adjust to the humidity of summer!). We should definately try and organise a day when us Brissy region ladies get together. It could be great fun!

I'm very familiar with the Big Banana because everytime we drive down south the boys get excited about seeing this 70's national icon and I hear "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" from around the time we leave home until we get to Coffs! (It makes for a loooonnnnnngggg day, I tell ya!)

LOL our obsession with "big things" certainly is a strange one isn't it!! I remember being excited seeing the Big Mandarin (at Munduberra) whenever we drove to Brisbane as a child!

Sadly, if you come to visit me in Central Queensland, you won't find any "big" things... although... my region is known as the "Beef Capital of Australia" and throughout the main town in the region (the one 45mins away that I go to for shopping), are around 6 large concrete statues of Bulls depicting the different beef cattle breeds that are farmed here.

A local sport used to be drunken-souvenir-hunting where the locals would try and steal the *ahem* bull's manhood... It was quite a lucrative business creating replacement testicles for a while, but now the council have wised up and there are steel rods attaching all the bits so they can't be stolen anymore!

So if you do come visit me, I cannot offer anything remotely sophisticated or high-brow - but I can offer you great steak, great beaches and lots of fun!

Oh, all these pictures and talk of big things is making me homesick!! I love reading the posts from the Aussie "sheilas" (oh dear, I sound like my uncle!) I enjoy seeing your relaxed style and reading your (often) amusing posts.

Karen, I have been to Fraser a few times and consider it paradise on earth.
Stringy, I spent my honeymoon in and around Perth - the only time I have ever seen an echidna in the wild was in King's park!

KP, the Big Banana is fantastic, but I can personally lay claim to the Big Lobster. Freshly caught lobster and champagne on the beach beats a banana on stick any day! (Although as a tourist attraction the Big Banana is much more fun!)
