I saw on the news tonight that there are terrible fires right outside Sydney. Are there any YLFer's in danger?

Thanks for your concern Deb!
Deborah and I live way south of the fires in N.S.W.
Our danger period usually comes later- in Jan-Feb at the height of Summer.
I am not sure who is in Sydney, so I can't speak for them.

Yes they are pretty bad. Thanks for thinking of aussies. I'm on the other side of the country and it's still coolish.

Thanks for asking My daughter is in Sydney but not near the fires. She sent me some photos of the sky, it looks like the end of the world & she is a long way from the nearest blaze. They are expecting conditions to worsen in the next few days unfortunately.

Good to hear that everyone is safe. A lot on the news in NZ about the fires and I think we probably send fire crews across to help and relieve Aussie crews who are probably exhausted by now.

I'm on the north side of Sydney, and the fires are a couple of hours away. The air has smelled smoky over the past several days (and some "apocalypse" photos). One afternoon I had ash floating in my window. It's not bad today (cool and cloudy) but is forecast to be bad again tomorrow. This is quite early for fires for us, and they're usually further west.
