Australians buying US shoes - sizing

I am contemplating ordering those Sam Edelman Trina shoes that have been popping up a lot.
I have NEVER ordered anything from the US before. According to a sizing chart I found online, the sizing is the same (I am an Australian size 6 usually) but I just thought I'd check if my fellow Aussies have found that the US sizing is indeed the same.

Love the idea of the Trina's for you, Anne. I'm not entirely sure about the sizing, but I always find those size charts that have length of foot in centimetres and inches quite helpful. They're often more accurate than shoe sizes alone.

Nordstrom has one for the Trina sandal, perhaps that will help?

Some sites say they are the same some say they are different. I've been VERY lucky. Everything I ordered fits, but I measured the ones I wanted with similar ones I already had to make sure they were comparable. Just like here there is a huge variation in sizing (I have three different sizes in footwear in my wardrobe). The responses to my post were very helpful.

Ditto what Caro said, various sites give different information. Having said that I ordered some Merrell sandals from Amazon and they were the same size as the ones I tried on in Oz. But that doesn't really help you....

Inge - thanks for that really helpful link. That chart seems to indicate that my normal 6 should be the right one.

Caro, thanks for your link too. I am pretty consistently a size 6 (though really I am a 5.5, but they are too hard to find) though I do reject huge numbers of shoes both for comfort reasons and because of my wide ball of foot/shallow heel combination.

Now to bite the bullet on which colour - but they all look so good I guess I can't go to wrong on that count!

Too late. That's what being an under buyer does to you!! I didn't just sit down and order them straight away! Oh well, no hurry. I won't need summer sandals til around November anyway.

Anne, this may turn out to be a blessing. I tried the Trinas on last year and while I like and own several other Sam Edelman styles, the Trinas were quite uncomfortable for me. I am not sure why. They weren't giving me any support somehow. And they felt rigid. The leather was also quite stiff.

Having said that, I slipped on another pair earlier this season for comparison and they felt much better. So perhaps I was having a bad day the first time or maybe it depends on the colour.
