All safe here. I am in Queensland, but Brisbane is to the south of the state - it's a big state.
It sounds like the north has had a real hammering, poor people! So far no deaths are reported, but most of the news services are saying that the damage will be revealed in the morning

Hi, Thank you for thinking of us. (Especially Sally) My area is getting lots of rain, but we're hundreds of kilometres away from the area of the cyclone. We had our turn a couple of years ago.....so I really feel for those who have suffered property damage and loss.

Those of us in Sthn Queensland were ordered home from work by noon today because conditions suddenly deteriorated '- we are talking over 3million people. Some towns are getting evacuated for flooding but so far its just heavy rain. Hoping there are no nasty storms overnight... All good so far!

Yes, we are feeling it now in southern Queensland. All 1300 schools in the greater region have been closed today and tomorrow (!!), and my work was cancelled today. Lots of blackouts now, too. We have had a few flickers!
Let's hope everyone stays safe.

I have been in touch with Sharon for those of you who remember her, she is in Brisbane and was planning to leave work as early as possible before the rain and the flooding took hold. I will check in with her again tomorrow.

I'm actually in Cairns right now. Our original flight on Tuesday was cancelled and we had to take one earlier in the day instead. It was and is super hot here, which seems to be a side effect of the cyclone.
