All the talk about YLF get togethers has got me thinking what the plans are for our own **first ever** Aussie YLF get together!

We will be meeting at Queen Street Mall at 11.00am on Saturday 9th October, all things going according to plan

Someone mentioned in this thread about having high tea.

Some suggestions for the day so far (collected in one place!)
Katiepea: May I suggest a late morning meet up (say 11.00/11.30am?) followed by an excited lunch and followed by some afternoon retail therapy?

Sharon: My vote is Queen Street mall, too. We can press our noses against the window at Tiffanys. They love it when you do that!

Theresa: I think Queen Street Mall is a good idea because its easy to get to and has a whole lot of variety. I know I especially like the Myer centre.

Megan: 11-11:30) would be better for me- we could start with brunch/lunch to get our strength up and then shop! Are there any places that do high tea around that mall? We could finish with that!

So...meet at 11.00am for coffee/lunch, shop between say 12/12.30 til around 3.30-ish? Then go for a walk and do high tea at Stamford Plaza (http://www.stamford.com.au/spb.....ial=569770)?

At this stage I am coming sans-kidlets, ex-H did get a new job and will probably not be able to have the girls, but a friend has offered - so I'll confirm that closer to the time though.

AND, if anyone is interested, I am planning on heading to the Valentino Retrospective at the Art Gallery as soon as I arrive in Bris (so I'd probably be there around 9.30am I would guess) then heading to the mall. Fortunately the mall is just a *quick* stroll across the bridge from the Gallery!

Does anyone have anything specific they hope to find?

The only thing on my list is a trip to a Just Jeans to try on the Levi Curve ID jeans... (or anywhere else that stocks them)... my local JJ said only the big stores were getting them.

Other than that, I just want to enjoy the time with fellow fabulous YLF Girls!

Hi Theresa,

I am definitely on the lookout for a few things:
- Leather cross body bag in cream/off white
- Turquoise bag
- Skinny cargo pants
- Non denim walk shorts
- Cute, colourful flats with good support. Could be closed toed or sandals
- Cute 2-2.5 inch heels (maybe nude patents?)
- Military style shirt dress or jacket
- Decent non-black dress pants in a new silhouette (cigarette pants/skinny pants)
- Harem pants (maybe, if I can find some with tapered bottoms that don't make me look like a house!)
- Drapey vest or tailored tuxedo vest

Hmm. That looks like a lot doesn't it! Well I obviously don't expect to find it all on that day!

Phew! I'm glad to see this! I just wanted to pop in and say that I haven't forgotten the 9th either. I unfortunately *may* have to work until 12.30pm (which would mean getting to you sometime around 1.15pm in the city), but I'd still really, really, really love to come and meet you all if I may! I won't know whether I'm working for certain until the week or so before though.

Hmmmmm, I'm ala broke at the moment, but I could be incredibly, incredibly, incredibly tempted if I could find any or all of the following at a reasonable price and a comfortable and flattering fit:
*A pair of neautral, low/moderate height comfy wedges that I can wear even to school if I want. (Not canvas that will get dirt on it the first day either!);
*A pair of white cropped pants or even shorts if these are deemed incredibly unflattering (even with aforementioned wedges on);
*A simple white or cream skirt that will be perfect for hot summer days - and is lined and easy machine washable;
*A few longish necklaces that I can wear to death this summer. Somehow I have managed to break 3 (yes I'm counting!) of my long necklaces in the past two weeks! (Diva anyone....... I'll push the teenagers out of the way, you go in, grab and pay......? ;-())

As Big Kev (may he RIP) would say...... I'M EXCOITED!!!!!!!!!!

So I actually have this weekend off work amazingly. However my leave starts a week afterwards and I'll be back in qld then......is 2 trips in 2 trips crazy to consider? I'm thinking YES!!

If you can get a cheap flight then YES, YES, YES, you must!!!!!! Speaking selfishly for I moment, I would sooooo love to meet you in person and I know that the others would feel the same way. Think of it this way, if I have flown to Canberra two times in six weeks (in winter and early spring when it's ffffffffrrrrrreeeeezzzzing - Tara will back me up here!) then two trips in two weeks to sunny, warm (did I mention warm and that it is really pretty at the moment!) Brisbane/Queensland should be a snap!

Has my teeny little voice managed to convince you to make the jump?

I have just found out today that my brother and his girlfriend will definitely be able to have my girlies for the day, so I shall be there all by myself YIPPEE!!! (Although I have a feeling my bro doesn't actually know this yet hehehe!!!)

So glad to hear everyone is coming - should be gangs of fun!
I am on the lookout for some dressy shorts and perhaps a skirt. I would also really like a new summer bag, but with my birthday coming up in a month I might suggest something to hubby.
I can offer a bed for the night if anyone needs accomodation.

Wow this is getting so close now! I dont have anything in particular at the moment that I want to get so I am happy to just shop around. I dont spend much time in the city so I cant really suggest a meeting place that would be best but the entrance of Myer City Centre sounds good.

Theresa I was actually thinking of going to that exhibition too but hadnt decided - I'm happy to come along as well and I can pick you up from the airport if you dont already have something organised?

3 thoughts:
-I know everyone wants to keep their outfits a suprise, but can we give each other a vague idea so I don't approach unsuspecting strangers?

-Is someone bringing a camera? I am sure we will never be forgiven if when don't have a photgraphic record of this exciting event!

-Stamford Plaza only have Chocolate High Tea on the weekends, which runs from 3-5pm. It is $42, which is a bit more exxy than their regular Mon-Fri High Tea and they do require bookings. Do we want to book for this?

Sorry, a bit OCD - I like having details worked out!

Sharon I think it's a good idea to have an idea on what we'll be wearing - maybe just a brief description like "I'll be wearing denims and red shoes" should be ok as long as we all agree with a meet up place.

I'm happy to bring my camera, it's not great but I figure maybe if a few people bring cameras then hopefully we can get a great shot between one of the photos.

Ouch $42 for high tea is a bit much! If we are having lunch I think that just afternoon tea should suffice, there are some nice cafes/pastry shops in the area. I havent been to any personally so cannot recommend but there's a list on their website . Maybe we just stop for coffee & cake?

Hello! I am so excited! And I must say that I'm glad you will be at Queen Street Mall - because at least I stand some chance of finding you all. (I can't believe I've lived here three years and have only managed to get into the city around three times - pretty sad really.)

I'm just worried that because I'm going to be an hour or twoish late to the start of the afternoon. How will I find you? Realistically, I will get there sometime between 1.10pm and 1.30pm. I was wondering if maybe one of you gorgeous ladies would mind doing a personal message exchange with me so that we can exchange mobile numbers so I can text/call you to find out where you will be? Or can you promise me someone will wait for me at 1.30pm somewhere ultra obvious, like outside David Jones entrance on Queen Street Mall - pretty please? I really, truly, can't wait!

OK, this is getting exciting - we're discussing the nitty gritty!!!

High Tea - I'm in or out depending on the rest of you! I'm all for chocolate fabulousness at any cost, but coffee and cake elsewhere is also totally fine with me! High Tea does mean we have to walk 4 blocks though (I think its 4...)

Recognition - I shall have my turquoise bag! And I think sharing a couple of mobiles would be a good idea in case of emergency/craziness!

Valentino - Karen if you do want to come that would be awesome!! I am just planning to catch a cab from the airport straight to the GoMA at this stage, but as long as it wasn't out of your way, a lift would be fabulous! If you are southside or somewhere in a distant part of northside, don't worry about it though - I'm too scared to drive in Bris whenever we've gone there, so I never ever expect people to drive me unless its super convenient LOL I'm a small town girl when it comes to driving/traffic!!

Cameras - does anyone have an SLR/DSLR? I have just bought a new digi, but its just a normal one - 12 megapixels though. I also have an old film SLR, but don't know how to use it LOL so if anyone knows how to use one I'm happy to bring it and get the film developed and scan the pics!!

The Write Up - Tara and I have both said we don't mind doing the write up - we can do it collaboratively if you all like.

Details - when we are ready, we will need to work out who wants to have faces blurred in the pics on the blog post, and stuff like that as well! So have a think about that too.

Meeting spot - I suggested Myer before, but remembered last night that the Myer centre has 2 entrances - 1 in the centre itself (there is a waffle or ice cream stand at the entrance - very enticing!), and the other entrance is into the ground floor of the actual Myer store.

BUT, I just had a thought and checked the map and there is a Coffee Club on the corner of Queen & George sts (opposite the casino - so at the very start of the mall), so perhaps we could meet there for lunch first? Or meet there, then head up find another food option...

Can I just say I'm laughing that I live nearly a thousand km's away and I know the mall so well! Goes to show that every time I'm in Bris I visit it LOL

Theresa & KP I will send you a PM with my mobile details. Theresa you're camera is better than mine, I'll probably bring mine along anyway but your pictures will probably be better. I do have an old SLR but hasnt been touched in ages and I dont think I could drive it anymore!

Coffee Club sounds good for a meeting point, happy to have something when we're all there for brunch and then have afternoon tea somewhere later.

Girls I've had a huge day, but the cherubs are off to their Dad's around lunch time tomorrow for 5, yes 5 days!!!, so I shall be back when I'm thinking straight and can actually comprehend planning LOL
