At the beginning of his month I posted about my shopping experiences since corona and mentioned I was not inspired to add much right now, what with my casual wardrobe being in pretty good shape and my workwear languishing while working from home. But I have to eat my words. That same weekend, all masked up, I checked out my local shops and took two items home with me!
In an independent bag boutique I found this gorgeous leather backpack. A smaller sized handbag style backpack had been on my shopping list for a while and makes perfect sense for my current life. I felt really good supporting this local store and didn’t mind paying full price. My suburban town center has been a BIG victim of the highstreet crisis for longer than a decade, yet some shops still hold on and small new ones open up occasionally. I can only hope in ten years time I’ll still be able to shop locally.
I also got a cheap maxi skirt in one of the few remaining fashion chains. This one fills a very specific gap which is for longer-than-knee-length skirts suitable for the hottest days of summer (it was the middle of a heatwave) when I want more coverage than shorts (though I actually went in looking for shorts). Wore it immediately which is good because it might soon get packed away until next year already. We rarely get super hot days in September.
Then I placed an online order for some more bras and sleeveless tops, but only one top worked out. It’s a dupe of the navy top I’m wearing in the action pic. Inexpensive but comfortable and tucks & drapes so well. I think the blush will also look nice with the seafoam skirt.
So yeah, August proved more fun fashionwise than expected :). Starting to look forward to fall fashion actually. But let’s survive the beginning of the schoolyear next week and possible accompanying flare-ups first.
