Thanks for that link! Do you have any pics of you wearing them? Specifically with skinnies tucked in? I have owned a stretchy pair before but they never looked good with stuff tucked in because you could see the lumps and bumps through the fabric. Maybe I am just doing something wrong.

I found the best thing is to look on Plus-sized sites for boots for large calfs. Though J. Crew does carry "extended-calf" boots, they are ridiculously expensive and they don't provide a circumference measurement on the site.

I found 2 pairs I liked the best. This pair I love, but they seem a touch casual for work. I may get them anyway later.

I finally settles on these. Though they aren't my favorite, with an additional 10% off I paid around $40 for them. They should arrive today.

Basically I am looking for something that is all leather. I am really hard on shoes, so I would like them to last, plus I have a funky shaped foot so leather tends to form around it becoming very comfy. I also really like the clean structured look of leather. Sucks having big calves, huh?

You're right - the stretchy boots are not good for tucking in jeans. I tried it the other day and it looked bad.

I actually like the ones from Silhouettes that you posted! Did you get them yet?

It is very frustrating, because I tried some really nice "wide calf" boots from Eddie Bauer and they were actually too wide. But the regular ones were too tight. I can't win! The ones I bought from them last year fit perfectly. They are really nice boots. Maybe they would work for you?

Wow, those are all gorgeous! I can't believe I never thought to look at a place like Bauer... which ones of that page do you have?

I really like the tall heel buckle ones. The heel is not too high, not too short. But the stich one's are pretty too.

Oh, and the one's I ordered from silhouettes are on their way to my house on the UPS truck as we speak. So when I get home from work I will be able to try them on and take pictures.

I hope I like them. I have always admired the skinnies and boots look, but besides not finding the right boots, I have always felt it made me look too hippy.

I have the flat riding boots and the tall heel boots from last year. The riding boots are slightly different - mine have a wrap around strap at the bottom that gives them just a little bit of interest. The tall heel dress boots look exactly the same. The heel is just a tad high for me to wear every day - I only wear them for dinner out, dressing up, that sort of thing. But I wore the flat riding boots a lot this winter. The riding boots have a shorter shaft, too, which is good because I have short legs.

Here is another pair I bought this year. They are Rockport "AINLEY" and they are the only boots I have ever bought in a store that not specifically "wide calf" that fit me! It was a minor miracle. They are more of a rain boot, though, and they are taller, and don't really work with skirts (on me, anyway). They are also fairly flat - not much of a heel. But they are great for the rain. That boot comes in a really pretty brown color too, but I couldn't justify buying another flat boot.

The one pair I would like but still can not find are a mid-size heel for tucking in jeans. The only way I can wear jeans tucked in is with a long cardigan, so I'm not really sure I should even pursue it.I really wanted those tall stitched ones in brown from EB. But they were too wide, even for me. Although I'm trying to remember if I tried them jeans or not. Now that I think of it, I may just have tried them with a skirt. Hmmmm. Oh well - they're sold out in my size now anyway. Plus, I really can't afford another pair of boots!

Lee - you know, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't remember trying on those boots with jeans!!! I think I just tried them on with tights and a skirt, and they were too wide at the top, so I sent them back. I think I was so focused on finding boots for skirts that I forgot to try them with jeans! Darn! I just looked at the EB site and they do have the tall buckle boots in my size in brown. I'm thinking of ordering them just to see how they look with jeans.

I have always been happy with the quality of the boots I get from EB. They are not leading edge fashion, but as you know - it's so hard to find boots that fit! I've been happy to have slightly less flashy boots. The leather is really good quality and I've never had any problems with quality. And no - I don't work for them, LOL!

(By the way - if you ever order the wide calf boots from EB be very careful that you remember to pick "wide calf." It's a bit confusing the way they have it set up and TWICE I have forgotten to do that and ordered the regular calf instead. Very annoying!)

Ugh the search goes on! The ones I bought barely zip up on bare legs, leaving no room for tucking... sooo disappointed. I guess I should measure the circumference with jeans on this time and see what I can find. Would mind measuring the circumference of your boots? I can't find the measurement on their site. Also, what size foot are they?

Oh no! I'm so sorry. I really do know what you are going through. It's just awful.

I have heard about that site DUOBOOTS, but I think the shipping might be pretty expensive. I'm not sure, but it might be worth looking into.

Okay - my boots from last year measure 16". They fit my calves perfectly, and my calves are 16 1/2". Don't ask me how that is possible!

However - the boots I ordered this year and sent back were bigger - there was a noticeable gap when I wore tights. So - I'm thinking - if you need a tiny bit more room they might work! If I were you I would call EB customer service and ask them for a measurement. 1-800-426-8020.

I know it's such a drag to pay for shipping, and then if they don't fit you have to pay shipping again. You can also return them for free at a store. I live near a store so that's what I do. But I have realized that getting boots that fit is just a much harder ordeal for me than for most people, so I have to bite the bullet a bit!

Yes it's horrible! I hate my legs simply because it makes being stylish so much more difficult and more expensive! I spent all my money on the top half because of this.

Thanks for measuring. 16" would be too small for me since I really need 17" to wear them with pants tucked in. But since you say the new ones were bigger, maybe it's worth it.

I just measured the ones I ordered and they measured exactly 16", though they were advertised at 18". Rediculous!

You know - it would be totally worth it have even just one fantastic pair of boots. If you can, I'd say increase the budget.

The new EBs were definitely wider, but I like the boots you just posted!

The Ros Hommerson's are nice. I like the first pair - they have a nice heel height.

The Blondo's say the circumference is 15" though. Do they come wider?

I'm crossing my fingers for you. PLEASE let me know how they fit if you order!

just wanted to chime in that DUOBOOTS is currently having a 50% off sale on a bunch of styles. They have a wiiide variety of calf widths and i have heard great reviews about their customer service. ..maybe worth a shot

Duoboot's customer service is excellent. There were problems with my boots order before Christmas. The boots were out of stock and within the space of 12 hours, the dates of delivery of new stock was changed from Dec 5th to Dec 16th. This got me a tiny bit worried so I called them, explained the situation, was told by customer service that they would call me back within 24 hours about it and within fifteen minutes, they called back apologising for the inconvenience and saying that it had been posted already. Between ordering time and waiting for stock to arrive, my boots arrived within five days of ordering. I would really recommend them to anyone.

I spent a good hour on the Duoboots site, the products are incredible and I love how the do their sizing. Unfortunately the only ones I love are over $200 with shipping, and I just can't justify that right now.

I will say http://www.duoboots.com as well - I like the Imperia Leather boot i think that would look good with skinnies tucked in.
