Athleta true to size?

I’m looking to purchase an Athleta dress for daughter who is 5’1” and looking to find out if they are true to size.? She usually wears a size 4 or size 6. Would a 4 petite good with athleta?

They tend to be a tad generous. I’m 5’2” and most typically a 4 petite on top. I often am an XsP or a 2p in Athleta, especially if it isn’t fitted. They have an easy free return policy, so perhaps buy both sizes and see.

Agree with Karen that most pieces run a bit generous. I am an 8P in dresses and generally wear small at Athleta.

It’s probably a good starting point. Petites sometimes are too short in the torso or too short in length so it depends on the style. They usually provide some garment measurements in the description so I’d check that too.

I find Athleta to be a bit generous on most things except for sports bras. I am a 34C and wear S tops and bikini tops, but M in sports bras. My waist is ~27" and hips ~36", and I wear a Small in their bottoms (swim, capris, pants and shorts). I wear a S or XS in dresses - I find those run a little larger.

For reference i wear XS tops and size 2 or 4 pants at Banana Republic.

Yes, sounds right to me, but check the measurements too. I size up, even to talls, or down- depending on how I want things to fit.
