Athleta leggings sizing?

Any advice about Athleta leggings sizing? I wear a 29/8/M in most pants, sometimes a 28/6/S. I wear a small for the same style legging from Zella. Looks like I'm on the cusp for Athleta and don't have an experience: any advice?

I find that Athleta sizing is generous. I’m often a small with them (medium in most everything else). If on cusp, I suggest choosing smaller size.

If you wear a S in Zella, i think you would wear a S in Athleta.

Agree with kkards; I find their sizing comparable to Zella, so I'd try a small.

I have found Athleta to run generous as well. Remember, leggings stretch so if you choose one size down from your usual size you should still be ok.

(I wear Athleta for my gear, and I find leggings sizes are generally consistent, eg if you wear a small in one style of leggings, typically you’ll wear a small in other styles.) You can filter reviews by height and /or weight—I do that when there are a ton of reviews (as for these leggings). Hope the small works for you!

I think a S for you should be good. I wear size 4 pants and I wear XS in Athleta leggings.

Actually....

I have found Zella to run smaller in the leggings than they used to. I used to wear Zella leggings in an XXS (about 7 years ago). Just purchased 2 new Zella pairs in XS - and they are the same size as the old XXS.

But agree that Athleta runs roomy generally.

I almost always wear M in Athleta. Occasionally some things will run big or small- so good to check reviews.

Angie interesting to hear what you said about Zella. I found a pair in a lighter material that I bought this summer ran a smidge smaller than usual: I thought it was the different fabrication, but maybe it's a larger trend! (I *hate* when brands change previously consistent sizing! Sigh.)
