I am loving all of the purchases and ideas you ladies have been posting from loft and AT. Unfortunately for me, neither company offers tops and sweaters (or the fun jackets) in tall sizes. ATL size charts state sleeve length on items like the bf cardi, and according to their measures it would be too short in my size. However, I recently had an experience with another company where someone taller than me indicated they could wear it and measured their garment for me. Turns out that it was much longer in the sleeves than indicated online and she found that typical of several brands.

I was just wondering if any of you ladies have had a similar experience with garments from either AT or AT?. Does anyone own the bf or another cardi in a L and would be willing to measure the sleeve length or length from center back for me? I don't have a store within 450 miles and would like to avoid tons of returns if they can be easily avoided.

I am only 5'8" (on the borderline for tall sizes) but have long arms-- usually 25.5" from the shoulder and 34.5" from center back ( could probably go maybe 33).

If anyone thinks they run long or could measure, I would really appreciate knowing.

I am having a hard time finding cardis/sweaters in tall sizes (or jackets that aren't suit like). BR only carries a few in tall, and not the styles I am looking for. Gap has one or two, but I am not thrilled with the fit. Eddie Bauer carries them, but not what I am looking for. The only other place I have seen is JCP--- has something similar, but only in black and brown.

I can try to measure this weekend for you Elly, but I can tell you that I am 5'7" and usually have to order tall pants. I have never had a problem with sleeve length at either AT or ATL -- but to tell you the truth I never really noticed that closely, unless it is hanging longer than my thumb knuckle on my hand. I tend to push my sleeves up on my forearms most of the time. :0

Hi Elly. I'm almost 6' and haven't noticed a problem with the arm length on sweaters at ATL or AT, but ditto what Kristen said about not really paying much attention to sleeve length :).

I wonder...I understand the need to try to find the perfect length sleeves, but I wonder if you could give yourself permission to wear sweaters even if the sleeve length isn't perfection? For example, I try to find sleeves that are long enough, but if they don't quite reach where they are supposed to, I don't really care. This is just "bracelet length," and is perfectly acceptable. I always wear a watch and usually a bracelet, so I figure it just offers me the option of doing that. Frankly, I wonder if you notice this sleeve issue to a much greater extent than anyone else would. Freeing yourself in this way would open up so many options for you!

Kristen, I usually have to order tall pants too. I would be in dire straights if I wore heels, but I don't-- so a 34 or 35" tall will usually work. Tall pants are so much easier to find these days though, so I honestly don't worry much about them unless I am dying for a really trendy style. I would really appreciate if you could find the time to measure, it would save me a lot of trouble ordering and returning clothes.

Jonesy-- I had no idea you were so tall! I saw your WIW today and you looked great. Both my aunt and my mother are tall ladies (5'11" and 5'10") but I seem to be built more like my dad in that aspect-- a bit shorter but with his really long arms.

I guess the idea of wearing sleeves that are just a bit short like the pictures shown has a bit of a gut reaction for me. Growing up I always wore hand-me-downs, but being tall (I was always one of the tallest girls at school, was 5'8" by 13) I always dealt with the sleeves and pant legs being too short. My mother's solution to the problem was to sew lace on to the edges (I was not girly and hated it). So, I guess things a little two short always seem awkward and gawky to me for that reason-- esp. since I am not really tall.

My other concern would be with warmth. I have poor circulation in my arms and legs, so I try to keep them covered with multiple layers in fall and winter. I have a shirt that has sleeves that hit maybe 3 inches up from the wrist (not sure what it is called, not 3/4 not bracelet) and I have already had to put it away on cooler days here or wear something under it (highs have been in the fifties but in the morning it has been cold). I really like the three-quarter sleeve look (i like the last sweater you posted) but am afraid I won't be warm enough esp. this winter when the highs will be in the 30s most days.
