Thank you all for the replies! I seem to be much more in the norm on this, for this group, than I expected!
Rachylou, I'm not sure if I kept my little girl's bucket bag from Target in the storage locker or not, but none of my other bags are particularly precious. They're in finds. The blue was a test run for the red, and is nearly exactly the same size. I use the guitar strap to make a green one a crossbody, but I'm considering having a long green strap made (the original was too short to wear crossbody). I also have a little black Coach, about 5x8x2, and a Nash that needs a new strap. There is a leather working shop around the corner. Our neighborhood is the center of gay nightlife in Berlin, so their window is full of things like men's chaps, but I bet they could handle a simple purse strap or 2.
Bijou, I carried very small purses for several years before moving here. I seem to still have the discipline of keeping extraneous stuff out. I've even stopped carrying one organizer full of all kinds of helpful things! I'm impressed that you even put the stuffing back in yours! Mine are nearly empty most of the time. Maybe I should do something like that overnight to help it keep its shape
Jessikams, that sounds comfortingly familiar.
Sterling, truth be told, mine is on the floor just as often as on that ledge. But it is also a clean floor. I should get some leather cleaner. I think the leather and suede conditioner I got for my red boots discolored them a little, so must do some research.
kkards, thanks for celebrating with me. I don't want to think about what could've happened... Maybe I'll start putting anything squishy in the shoppers, and then in the backpack.
Thanks Runcarla, that sounds like a reasonable solution.
Aquamarine, that sounds like a lot of swappage! Can you tell any difference that using the dustcover makes? I suppose that would require a bag without one for comparison, which you obviously don't have.
Janet, I've still got the shopper in the photo on this post
https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....bag-search, as well as a smaller one. The backpack comes into play when I'm getting so little that it can all fit in there (why is milk only sold in liter packages here?!?), or so much that the shoppers can't hold it all, or something I don't want to get damaged. Maybe I should get a gallon ziplock freezer bag to put the eggs, strawberries, or whatever in, and keep it in the backpack with the shoppers.
Jules, we are of one mind on impractical fashion. I remember Santa's elf arguing with me about this bag when I thought it was already a mute point. I explained how I expected it to be useful (I was right), because I was afraid she was going to go buy something else, so I wanted to be sure she knew what mattered to me.
Thanks smittie! I love the color too. Unfortunately I love it so much that I also got a jacket in it this fall. I don't think it goes with the purse well.
Sterling, are you worried that the hook would stretch it out/damage it somehow? That's what I was thinking.
Janet, hm, your upright storage suggests maybe I really should adapt Bijou's habit of putting the stuffing back in them.
taylor, such valuable information! Do you know for sure that K Spade has this policy or should I check? I ask because when the strap on my Coach broke, they told me they only replace them within the first year.
Opaline, such a sneaky elf, haha!
Suz, that's a great way to use the dust cover! I want to keep mine around because of the "personalization". This is the perfect use for it.
Jill, glad to hear it. Honestly, if I felt I needed to do an emptying-out and cleaning ritual every night, I probably wouldn't carry it much.
Torontogirl, those and this one are about the same level, right? I have no idea, because I've never considered one of these before, was appalled a few years ago when my little sister got one for her birthday. Never say never! I wonder how Santa did that April delivery....
Here's my happy little camper, along with the smaller shopper. They almost coordinate with each other. It was pretty slumped on the ledge, so I hung it up. The stuffing that came with it is with the wrapping paper (just starting to build up stockpiles of things like mail supplies, so I kept it). My son will laugh, but I think I will use it, unless I think of a better alternative. Mittens & hat might work in the winter.
