I'm here! Yes, I do the twist and shake method which I will try to explain. It's one of those things that showing is easy but typing, eh.
Before I put the hair in a clip I twist it, the twist creates a thicker section and the bulk helps keep the hair in place. Also the twist keeps smaller hairs in place because they are now mixed in with larger hairs (my hair is layered, a french braid, the pieces come out in 10minutes no matter how tight I pull it, too many layers).
After the clip is in, I do a soft shake. I find when putting clips on the sides, there are pieces farther back that try to sit over them. The very soft shake lets me see what hairs are trouble makers and I stuff those into the clipped hair. (I find there is always a 1/" section of hair from the back that somehow makes it's way to the sides covering up my pretty clips) Sometimes I have to undo the clip and grab those hairs, retwist and put them in. It works really well for me. Hope this made sense!
