I was just reading comments on today's blog post regarding the "one in - one out' concept, and Sarah mentioned some kind of hangar spacing "above?" the closet rod? What does that mean girls???????

I puzzled over this one, too, Marley. But I THINK it only makes sense if you have a certain type of closet organizer. I don't have a pic, but if I'm right, it means that the clothes are evenly spaced and don't crunch into each other.

She doesn't have a rod, but wire shelves instead. Look closely at Angie's closet picture. The hangers are hung through the edge of the wire shelving and each hanger gets its own "square" or section created by the wires of the shelving. So--- without switching to thinner hangers or smooshing clothes together they can only have as many hanging clothes as they have squares!

Editted to ADD-- there was a picture a while ago of angies color grouping closet organization, and I think that is where I saw this. Otherwise, I am just going crazy and am sorry!

That's it! My home came with the closets like that. I'll take pics and upload them tomorrow. My closet is pretty small, considering my closet in my parents house could easily hold a double mattress. Sigh.

I had those kinds of closet shelves in my very first apartment and I LOVED them. Everything stayed so nice and perfectly spaced.
Maybe I need to add that to the honey-do list

Our closet also has a thin rod under the wire "squares" also, and our squares are a continuation of the wire shelf above the hangar rod if that makes sense.

I actually like having a plain rod - some items are much thicker and others quite thin. I can best utilize my space if I can adjust the hanger space accordingly. I didn't like having those wires in a past rental - not to mention the waffle marks anything stacked on the shelf got! But I admit it does look pretty like that.
