Ask Kari (and others who might know)...about that green skirt

I'm going to order that beautiful VC blouse that you have, and that Angie posted as a fab summer top:

Also - is this skirt fine to wear without any kind of hose or shaper bottoms? I guess I'm asking if this skirt shows wobbly bits or what have you, or is it ok to wear with just some non-VPL undies and a pair of sandals or pumps?

One last thing - I am a fair skinned, blue-eyed blonde, and was wondering if I should get a different colour in this blouse? There's one called 'red pepper' as well...(pic 3). What do you think? I really love the looks of the black/mustard/green colour scheme, but can't help but wonder if maybe the red/blue one might look better on me. Any comments/ideas in this vein? I'm much more drawn to the green one...and don't "love" the red/blue one as much for some reason.

Thanks for any insight that you (and others) have on this skirt and if the green/black/yellow blouse will work on a fair skinned blonde.

I tried on the skirt and found it a bit too form fitting but that is what makes it so va va voom. I would give it a try - it can always go back right? The blue and red is pretty but I agree that the green combo is gorgeous.

Thank you christianne - it's good to hear from someone who's actually tried the skirt on. That's what I was a bit worried about, if it was too form-fitting, close to the body etc. I do have a black pencil skirt or two in my closet, but a black pencil skirt doesn't seem very summery to me.

I don't want to make the mistake of buying a blouse without something to wear it with. I've done that too often with other things...

vc, I was looking at the skirt, too, just moments ago and thinking about the green. I didn't think the blouses were available anymore. I love the the blouse, as well, but with my scrawny neck, I wasn't sure it would be a good look on me. However, the skirt is catching my eye. Hope Kari and others give some insight.

Vicki - I think the blouses are still available I'm very tempted by the skirt...I might just order it anyway, just in case it'll work.

If you didn't want a blouse like this, I'm betting that a woven button-down shirt might look *fab* with the knit green skirt! I can see a longer, button-down shirt with this green skirt, perhaps belted and with some fun (maybe yellow) pumps or sandals?

Ok - that does it - I'll order it anyway, and even if it doesn't work with the VC blouse, then I might be able to make it work with button-down shirts instead.

One last thought Vicki - what about a 'pile of pearls' with the VC blouse? Or a chunky gold necklace/pendant? Would that be too OTT or ALGO? With some white skinnies and fab flats or pumps? A bit 'high contrast' but it could look pretty good. Even some darker skinnies too, as shown in the Nordstrom photos.

vc, you are on the ball and I love your ideas. Did they show skinnies with it? I didn't see that and will take a second look. Funny about the white skinnies as green and white were my "school colors" in h.s.

I do have the navy and green striped J. Crew collared shirt and thought about that as a topper. Yes, I love your thoughts on the "pile of pearls" as I'm a pearl girl and that would help to close up the area, so to speak. We could twins here!

Vicki - if you click on photo #1, when it enlarges, you'll see that Nordstrom has their model wearing that blouse with a pair of dark blue skinnies of some kind (could be shorts, could be jeans, not sure).

They do have the blouse in the yellow PS, but not PXS, so I'm going to try it on for size. I do like the yellow, but was thinking of the jungle, like you. They also have the jungle tube skirt. Are you concerned about all the black in the blouse, vc? I am, too, as I'm fair and blonde, too.

Yes, I am a tiny bit hesitant about all the black in the blouse, but the thing is - the black isn't right up next to my face with a blouse in this style. Also, I bought a green/black printed dress a few years ago (the same one Kari has and most recently wore to an "Old Hollywood" themed wedding), and although at first the green/black seemed a bit 'much' on my colouring, it actually ended up working out beautifully.

Meanwhile - back to the blouse: I see this as an almost 'all season' top, which is why I'm liking this particular colour scheme (jungle green print). I mean, you could just as easily wear it in the fall or winter with dark jeans and some fab boots or booties, couldn't you? Or with a black pencil skirt and some pearls? For summer, it'll work with that green skirt, and perhaps (not sure on this...could be a bit too high contrast, but worth a try) white jeans. I'm hoping it might also look nice with dark denim Kut tapered bermuda shorts, which I already have.

This blouse, although it has a lot of black in it, also has green, and a hint of yellow. It's not going to be like a buttoned-up solid black blazer next to my face or anything...lol! Although I have come to the conclusion that too much black close to my face isn't the best thing, I can still wear black - just that it needs some other colour to it as well, and some 'space' between the black and my face, if that makes sense.

PS - editing to add: I hope you try the blouse and the skirt! I'm not 100% confident on the skirt for me, but am willing to try it. I can always return it if need be.

Oooh VC, I can't wait to see it on you! I ordered the green tube skirt too, and now am going to try the emerald blouse in XS because I love Kari's combination of green skirt and blouse. Did you size down as well on the blouse?

I'm going to get a medium in this blouse, which according to the size chart is an 8-10. Thing is, I'm battling a few extra pounds lately, so this might well be sizing down for me. If I weren't battling a few extra pounds these days, I might chance the small, given that this blouse is ...well, blouse-y. Not this time though...hope the medium works for me.

By the way, I was reading very closely the reviews on the jungle green tube skirt, and I have a feeling it runs big, based on some of the reviews I saw. So, even though this is a close-fitting skirt, I'm going to try a medium in that as well. Someone in the reviews said she normally wears a 12-14 and bought medium and it fit her nicely. I don't want the skirt to be skin-tight or anything. Hoping more for drape-y.

I ordered a small skirt and normally wear size 4-6. Will hopefully have it in the next couple days to see how it fits. Hope yours works out! I hate it when I bought the wrong size and then it's sold out...if I'm not sure sometimes I order two sizes and return one just for that reason (like the turquoise top I posted).

If that's the same skirt, it looks way better on Kari than the model... and now I want it, too!

Hi Velvety, I lovethem both so much:-). (that green skirt and blouse as well), worth a try for sure. I like the green blouse better than the navy/red, for a reason, It seems more current to my eye, and that yellow pops out much better than than the white stripe.
I am also blonde, and have don't really know what colour of an eyes?:-) will say rather grey but according to what I do(excry) or what I dress can change to blues or greens,-so both colours suits me great- just wonderred if you've ever experience that, too, even if trully blue eyed:-)
