Janet, I just received my Stella McCartney bag from Farfetch, though redirected using a forwarding company. Anyway it arrived without any farfetch packing slips/invoice etc. So then I started to worry if it wasn't authentic. Another problem is they seem to have sent the completely wrong bag!! We ordered a tiny tote in navy and one of the new season ones showed up. Its black chevron in small tote size. Its a lot more expensive than the tiny tote...so I said let's keep it. Do you think I should inform farfetch?

Anyway, it does have a date stamp inside the pocket but its on a black label and they've previously been white. I was wondering if they've changed them recently. Does yours also have a black label?

Now it does look completely real, amazing quality and craftsmanship, i'm probably worrying over nothing *sweats*

Oh how odd! Here is what the tags and label look like on mine, and this is the current year’s design. Mine has white tags sewn into the side of inner pocket. Hmmm. I’m not sure what to make of that. It’s certainly weird that it’s a completely different bag from what you ordered!

I think i'm probably best emailing Stella McCartney customer service directly. They'll know the features of that style.

I heard that the shaggy deer material is incredibly expensive to make (even more so than some leathers) and its quite hard to fake. It feels and looks exactly like my wallets so I'm thinking is it authentic, or if it isn't it would be an incredibly well made fake. The chains are sewed on well and it has all other features of a genuine bag. Including the little plastic protective cap over the magnetic clasp. It also has a farfetch tag attached but no Stella McCartney ones. I'm not sure they even have tags on bags.

Farfetch sell genuine products so I'm probably worrying over nothing. But it is a strange situation, unless my husband bought two bags for me and isn't letting on...and I don't know how likely that is haha.

It is just a weird situation right?

My birthday is exactly a month from now so I won't use it until then but want to be able to return it if something isn't right. Other luxury shops I've bought from include a return label but they haven't. It might just be their policy to do everything online. I also think the box wasn't opened by the forwarder as it had farfetch tape sealing it.

Oh one mystery solved! I just checked out farfetch and they said they don't include paper invoices or return labels to be environmentally friendly. So that's the reason for no packing slips. Not sure why we got the wrong bag, but I expect its probably just a human error when sending out. I feel better that it is genuine now, I think they are probably just in the process of changing the colour of the tags inside too, maybe only with some lines at first. I might just email Stella McCartney customer service just in case but its probably fine.

Now to the ethical dilemma of whether I should return it because it wasn't what we ordered (and is more expensive).

N, did you specifically want a navy bag, or does it not matter if it is black? I recall you wear alot of navy.... I think you should email SM or you will always wonder, I know I would. Details on tags really do give out fakes.

If you really like the one that came keep it. If you don’t contact farfetch and arrange a return. Does the size work? Or do you really want a smaller bag?

if I understand how farfetch works, you are not buying out of a warehouse, but from small individual shops, so it makes total sense that items would ship with less standardized paperwork.

I’d say if you love the one you received, maybe it’s a sign that’s the one you were meant to have. But it does sound like an error was made. How does the style of the new one suit you and your needs?

So I emailed SMcC and they didnt comment on the black tag at all but just said if I bought it from Farfetch, it is an authorised reseller so it will be authentic.

I personally think it looks like they have or are in the process of changing the tag colours. The bag is just too well made to be fake. The zip is exactly the same as the one on my wallet. The zip actually has a little "s" on it when you look at it from the front and a little "YKK" on the side, the same as on my wallet. Quality and weight exactly the same. The inside has a bit of smooth "leather" and its so soft, and really feels exactly like the interior leather in my wallet. The faux leather is like the softest and feels EXACTLY like real leather. I've only ever seen this on Stella McCartney items. The sandals I bought have this as the "lining" as well. I imagine its really hard and expensive to produce. Other products often feel plasticy or just bad quality. The shaggy deer is soft and feels the exact same as my wallet. The chain is diamond cut and great quality. Its sewn on really well and stiff and all perfect. It had a little plastic clasp guard too (I've seen on YouTube unboxing) and it has a farfetch tag attached. I think if this was a fake, the materials and craftsmanship would equal Stella McCartney quality and the price I paid so i'm guessing its just the real deal.

Overall, I think I was being paranoid over nothing heh. It was probably just human error in the warehouse.

I also noticed Janet, you know yours says "SP19" that's the collection it came from. Spring 2019. My number is at the top but it says "WI21" or Winter 2021.

As for whether I need/want the bag. I do need a black bag too, well one in each colour: Navy, black, silver, white, olive, burgundy so I suppose my Stella will just be my black one.

You know the weird thing, I saw this design earlier and thought it was nice and would go with how I imagine my wardrobe to look soon. Must be fate this one arrived. I actually realised the tiny bag is probably a bit too small for what I wanted, I need the mini instead. So might be a blessing I got this one and I do really LOVE it.

I will need to get a navy one in the future though (more excuses to buy another Stella haha).

Just from a glimpse of the lining I would guess it is real fwiw!

Oh yeah that's another point, the lining is the exact same as my wallet too. Feel colour etc, shape of the logo and everything. If it was a fake they wouldn't be making any money on it, that's for sure. Wouldn't be able to make these quickly on mass.
