Ask Greg: Saving Photos

Hello webmaster!

My question is is there any way for me to save some of the photos I see on YoulookFab to my own computer? I keep an "Inspiration" file, as many do, but since the site changed I can no longer right click on a photo and "Save Image As..."

Any help for the not-so-tech-savvy would be appreciated!

Kim, if you're using a multi-tab browser, when you're looking at the thumbnails on a post, right click on a thumbnail and "open link in a new tab." When the photo is opened in a new tab, you should be able to right click on the image & save it to your hard drive. (I'm using Chrome but was able to get this to work in Internet Explorer 8.)

Greg may have a better idea, but in the interim maybe this will help.

Great tip. I've never thought of this before but how great to be able to save ylf piccies as inspiration I've just spent 10 minutes hunting for a post with an outfit I wanted to copy x

Thanks Kari for stepping in!

The question has also reinforced something we have been thinking about lately... that the "favorite" mechanism we introduced for forum topics should also work with other things, like blog posts and individual photos. Then you wouldn't need to save things to your local computer.
