Ask greg: rss feed use?

I have been wondering how to get this RSS feed to work? When I click on it I get up a HTML page? I assume that if it works right, I get mails or something instead of having to log in to the forum? At least I hope so, I am sooooo addicted.

Jayne,
I always keep up with YLF through my RSS feed. I find it MUCH more practical, as all the posts neatly line up (from all the different categories) and I am always told how many posts I have not read yet (thus I never miss any, as they never 'fall' off the page). I don't need to log into the site unless I want to comment. I have one feed for the forum and another one for Angie's blog. Hope this helps!

Hi Jayne,

To make this work you need an RSS feed reader application. On the Mac I have used NetNewsWire. I have also used Google Reader, which is a web based feed reader app: http://www.google.com/reader

chouette22, I'm curious about what you mean by "all the posts neatly line up"? Can you elaborate on that?

Oh, what I mean is that the posts come in with regards to when they are posted. There could be a WIW followed by an OT, then a Shopping post, etc., and they stay put, they don't slide down the screen as they do on the Latest thread (where it is very easy to miss some of them). I find the Google reader so convenient for this forum.

oh, you cannot send in comments from the reader though? Ah, I was trying to find a way to comment from my phone... like on the train and such when I have more time.

Jayne, yes, you need to be on the website to comment on all the threads.

chouette22, ah! So you want to see the threads in the order the original topic was posted, not in the order of the most recent reply. I can see how that is useful.

Greg, I use Flipboard as the newsfeed for my phone. That works well. It links to the website if you want to use the comments section.

Try that, Jayne. Where would we be without our YLF?!
