Ask everyone: any updates on the YLF online swap?

I have put a few things aside for the swap if it is still happening. I am one of the members who cannot go to in person swaps, so it would be awesome if we went ahead with it

Opsy, yes, I have meant to post an update.
I would love to coordinate this.

I am suggesting a week long process, I'm thinking first week of September. That way we have time to go thru our closets and weed out items.

My ideas as to go about it:

Each one of us posts pictures and descriptions to ONE thread,

As items are taken, that member will edit their ONE entry to indicate that the item is gone. The rest of the communications should be going thru PM. That is so the main thread stays uncluttered.

I am thinking that to give everyone a fair chance to look at the entire selection, we should let each of the participants include their swap items on the thread, during a specific timeframe, let's say a period of four days, then we can start PM ing each other with requests.

Shipping costs are the responsibility of the recipient.

Thoughts?

I like this idea . . . hoping the logistics work out okay. It could get a little crazy maybe. I have a few things but not sure they are up to YLF standards honestly.

I like the idea too. Would you like to do a post with the dates and general guidelines Zap? It would be great to have everything in one place before the swap begins.

Also, would the participants be willing to ship abroad?

And how many items minimum should each person post? I suggest atleast 2-3, with detailed measurements, as sizes are inconsistent across countries.

Kirti, I think shipping abroad is not a problem. I guess the only issue is cost. As long as the recipients are OK with paying shipping costs, I don't see a problem.

Why don't we keep this thread open for a bit to see what else pops. I can then get an official thread, with the guidelines on Monday.

I think at least 2-3 min items is best. Measurements too!

I think this is a great idea too. How would you deal with a situation where more than one participant is interested in the same item?

I need to filter my closet soon so this could be the boost I need to get going.

Whoever is first gets it, I guess? But with all the different time zones, will that mean some people are unlikely to be first?

Good ideas, Zap I always have a few things that seem particularly 'fitting' for YLFers and would love to participate. I just hope I can get my things sorted, pictured, etc. by then as that might be the first week of school for me.

I also wondered about if >1 are interested. . .sometimes I've seen others defer when they know the fit/style is better suited to someone else, but that's been a certain item within one thread. Is there a virtual way to 'pick out of a hat'?

Random is good too. Also, for safety reasons, I think we should limit participation to members registered for a month or more and with a minimum of let's say 10 posts. Thoughts? I'm sorry newbies:(

All great ideas, and I would love to participate (I have some fab items, some NWT, up for grabs), but I cannot participate in anything the first three weeks of September. If by chance it gets pushed later, I'm all in.

This sounds like it would be awesome and so much fun! I've been going through my closet and drycleaning, mending, etc. I have a few things I definitely don't wear at all anymore (or never wore at all!).
