Ask Angie:What to wear in a party?

Me and my mom is going to attend a party.The party is arrenged by my friends and its a ladies only party.Along with my friends there mothers are also coming to this party .My question is that which dress I can select for mom?The party is based on western theme so Indian partywear is not suitable.(also there is a dress code for the party which is modern partywear western dress)Then which dress can be selected?My mom is 48 years old her figure is 34-28-36 right 167 cm fair complexion.My figure is almost same so can she wear my dresses?My choice for mom is
1)an off shoulder golden bandage dress with golden strapped stiletto and a golden clutch with a stone studded brecelet in left hand.
2)Black sequin one shoulder short dress with sequined clutch and black stiletto.
3)Cap sleeve silver metallic dress with diamond pendant .
4)Black and white striped spaghetti strapped mini dress with diamond bracelet and black or white stiletto.
Which one of this will be best?It will be a night party .Share some hair styles also.

It's hard to say without visuals but I'd rule out any of the mini dresses due to her age. Go for elegance, not sexy. Especially as this will be a group of women.

These are all of my selection for mom.I have purchased these by online shopping so posting the images from those websites.The party which me and mom are going is going to be organized in a club and there will be DJ in the party.Please give your opinion about the selection of dresses for mom.

Mmm, I don't think I'd be comfortable wearing a mini dress at my age (27), and I can see why maybe your mom is uncomfortable wearing a mini dress, especially ones that are very tight. Or very shiny. Or very tight and shiny.

She can still look stylish and chic though! Perhaps you may wish to consider a pretty sheath? Or a LBD?

Sandpita, can you find something more modest for your mother? I doubt that she will want to wear any of these...too tight, shiny and show too much skin both on top and leg. The one that comes the closest is #2. Maybe look for something like those in Lyn's links.

At the age of 48 my mom still has a nice figure and leg with unwrinkled skin.As the party is going to be flashy,full of music dance and entertainment I want some dress which suits not only mom but also with the environment.Waiting for your and Angie's opinion.

At 48, for the club, maybe your mom would want to consider a simple, but form-fitting sheath dress in a material that moves with your body like jersey.

Are you familiar with Padma Lakshmi? She is in her 40s and looks great in these kind of dresses.

Are those dresses comfortable for dancing?

Oh absolutely. Jersey is probably the most comfortable fabric there is. And I know I personally feel much more comfortable dancing when I know everything will remain covered
