Ask Angie: Which navy color is preferred this fall?

I am looking for a navy v neck cotton cashmere sweater for fall/winter...Should I look for a regular navy (what I would call school boy navy) or an ink navy (navy almost black)...Is one style preferred this season?...Hope this is an answerable question...smile...

And which looks best on you?

I'd go with that. Assuming you can find it.

For myself, I love both of these....plus another, brighter navy, which is actually the most flattering on me, but maybe too "uniform" looking if in a jacket or skirt.

Angie, Thanks so much for the post...I have found a cashmere/cotton that is in the school boy type navy...I was wondering if perhaps the ink is preferable this season over the school boy navy...I guess from what you said, it is just personal preference...Tobs and I send you a hug...

Do you look good in black? While what folks here call "ink" or very dark navy IS softer than black, on me it's hardly any better; even more classic navy is fairly draining as a "face color". I did get a couple of tops for FFBO's and to work with specific bottoms, but do not "invest" in navy for tops or toppers. What may be called "light navy" works sometimes. So for a sweater, I'd agree with going with what is flattering--if this sweater looks great on you, then that's the navy for you! as well as what you like and why--certain navy's might work better with your planned outfits even though technically they're all a kind of neutral.
