I really like the pants in picture 1 of this morning's blog on casual pants. They are longer for 'cropped' pants, but they are shown with flat sandals. Does that work for you? Is it the extra length and the gathering make it work with nude flats?

Khris, I have a pair that's similar. Although I think they look better rolled to the knee, I think it's the fact that they are very narrow that's the key to getting away with that length, that and long legs.

They don't look cropped to me. This is more of an ankle length. I think it works because even though they are slouchy, they are still slightly tapered. It wouldn't work if they were ankle length and baggy or wide leg.

Those are long pants tapered to the ankle with elastic - like harem pants. They totally work for me with the gladiators on the model. I don't know how this look will translate once you cover the waistband, because then, you shorten the leg line. It's worth experimenting with though. You could keep your top and bottom the same colour for a jumpsuit effect. Many ways to break rules!

In addition to the tapering, I think they work because the hemline is falls just on (or slightly above) the ankle.

I don't really know if lengthening the legline is as important as covering the gigantic abdomen to me.

I'm serious! I keep asking questions about pants, but I am having the same old trouble finding anything flattering. I can't get into all the little tricks and tips to make leg shortening pants work because I can't even find regular pants that are flattering. Look at the comments that my most recent pair of pants got.

Let me go look at her thread- I think it was Loft. I tried on a bunch of them last fall- at everywhere from Nordie's to American Eagle, and I never found anything that really worked. I like the way the ones you posted were not skin tight, but tapered in at the ankle.

Precisely. I just looked and they are from the Loft. AE is junior sizing so that might be what they didn't fit. Try the Loft.

AE is marketed to juniors, but their sizing is women's (even numbers), and they *did* fit- they just weren't flattering, as was the case with the ones from Nordie's, Express, Target, etc.

Khris, I just want to commiserate with you on the whole pants thing. I pulled out my capris and Bermudas from winter storage and tried them on with the new silhouettes and my new style goals in mind, and all but two got a resounding "meh" out of me. Some I think I might be able to work with, but seven pairs ended up in the Goodwill bag.

Perhaps I will just give up and be Skirt Girl.
