...for my hubby!
I am getting ready for our upcoming trip to Portugal. While my travel capsule is more or less sorted out my hubby's is not. This is our first trip to Europe together and I of course I want him to look good there!
The good thing: he likes to wear button down shirts and blazers so it makes it easier for me to make him look non-touristy there.
The bad thing: he does not have a good topper to fit over a blazer. He has a long leather coat but it is too heavy and cumbersome for travel. Also it would be too hot to wear in Portugal in March.
So with this in mind I went to the mall yesterday for recon shopping trip. There is a dismal selection of classic not casual toppers for men in Canada for sure. After 3 hours of shopping around I found 3 stores with trenches and took my hubby there today.
Long story short we selected this trench in Banana Republic:

It is a heavier cotton fabrication and it has a removable wool liner. Size L fitted comfortably over a jacket and was long enough to cover it. Surprisingly my hubby looked not bad in this khaki color, better than in black or navy ones he also tried on.
What I am concerned about is the fit. He is broad shouldered but very slim in tummy and hips so usually what fits the shoulders has too much fabric there. I can see from the pictures how much of this extra fabric is there, especially when he wears it without a blazer underneath. I am going to ask my mom if she can alter it to fit better but if she cannot - does it look too bad? It is not overly expensive but not cheap either so I don't want to keep it if it is not a 10 for him.
pic 1 shows the trench with blazer underneath; pic 2 is without a blazer.
It is a tighter fit on the guy on BR website but he does not wear a blazer there...
Please help!
