Hi Angie
I am new to this website. I am really enjoying all the information. I live in Europe Ireland so some of the shops you mention we haven't got over here. I think I am a petite 5" 1" inverted triangle. I was reading your ideas for autumn and would like some tall boots. Do you think I am too short to wear tall boots?
Also tall boots from Duo are they wide at the top or are they fitted at the top as well as on the calf? I have tall boots but there is a gap at the top as my legs are thin and I don't wear them as I hate the gap. Thanks for all the brilliant information.

Hi Pirouette, I'm not Angie obviously, but wanted to welcome you to the forum.
As far as Duo Boots are concerned, and this is true for all brands I think: it mainly depends on the style of the boot, so it's always best to check the product info for the specific boots you are interested in. I've heard very good things about their customer service too: so if you can't find the info on their website, I would definitely contact them with all your specific sizing and fit questions.

Not Angie either, but I'm a small petite also and I wear tall boots for sure.

It's all about what you wear them with, I would say. Shorter skirts are generally better for us in this connection rather than midis (well, the old-style midis), especially ones that get wider at the bottom. But it always depends. There's no substitute for trying things on. Tucking skinnies into boots works too. Never thought I would do that, but sometimes it's just the thing.

I find, BTW, that many of my boots don't come all the way up to the knee. Boots that stop a few inches from the knee might fit better because they don't have to follow the specific leg shape so closely all the way up. Try, try, try them on!

You're not at all too short to wear tall boots, Pirouette. It's a question of finding a pair with the right shaft height.

Duo is great. You can order by shaft height AND circumference and as Inge mentioned you can ask them specific questions before ordering. Good luck.

Hello Pirouette, if you are an inverted triangle, you have the shape that many of us wish love to have, especially the thin waist!

As for knee boots, I think that is something every girl must have in their wardrobe, regardless of height. It is all how they are accessorized. Plus tall boots can really add a "fun" factor or "wow" factor to any outfit.

If tall boots from Duo have a gap at the top of the boot and your leg, wear a pair of thick socks or slouchy socks with the boot. Be sure to wear a different colour sock then the boot to allow both items to stand out and increase the fun factor of your outfit.

Thanks to everyone for replying. This was my first time posting a question and I can't believe how kind and helpful everyone has been. I have decided to order a pair of black "Beech " boots from Duo and I spoke to their adviser about the top of the boots. I will let you know how I get on. I really am enjoying this site and getting lots of tips. I love shopping but make loads of mistakes so this site is really helping me focus.

Welcome to the Forum! I see you have great answers already! good luck in your search for the right ones! There really are so many variations in the boot shaft height , so looking for shorter ones will be very beneficial...

I am a petite 5'1" IT with skinny calves also and I wear tall boots all the time. The key is that they are tall FOR ME - which is at most a 15" height. Depending on the length of your lower leg you can find a height that is your sweet spot and go from there. And i look for 13" shaft or adjustable things like buckles or elastic to help avoid gappage.

Duo boots arrived they were lovely but I wasn't 100% happy so I have learned from YLF not to settle for second best. So I am returning the boots and am going to have patience and wait until the perfect boots come along. In the past I would have kept them even though I wasn't entirely happy because I would have preferred to have a second best rather than a gap in my wardrobe.

Welcome and good on you for not settling. I am a petite and really struggled to find tall boots for our winter this year. I was on a bit of a return cycle until I found the right pair. Definitely worth the effort and patience. You will find your perfect boots.

Thanks for your comments. I looked at your profile and I am the same height and body shape as you and the same colour hair and eyes. I will follow all your blogs as what suits you might suit me. I love the boots you found and as we are still in the summer here in Ireland I have a few months to find the perfect pair.
