Angie - sorry to bug you with this but I am still debating the Sam Edelman Pettys and I am holding off ordering because I can't figure out from the reviews what size I should choose.

I am between a 6.5 and a 7 with a medium width foot and narrow heel. Usually a European 37.

My SW booties are a 6.5. I can't wear heavy socks with them but they fit perfectly with thin socks or hose.

My Doc Saras were in UK 5 and they are too large for me even with an insole with hose. They would probably fit okay with a thick sock, but that's not how I wear them -- so effectively, they are too big. The Marcies, on the other hand, at the same size, fit fine - they are narrower so the size works.

For most snow boots and more casual style boots I typically buy the 7 so I can wear heavier socks.

For the Pettys, I would not be wearing them in that way.

So I don't know what to order!

Thoughts?

Also - do you think it would be a good addition for me, or would it just be duplicating my Reports or not work as well due to my darker hair colour?

ETA: I have tried on the Lisle bootie in the 7 and it just didn't feel right. I can't explain why - it was as if the last was not right for my foot somehow.

I hopeAngie sorts out your sizin issue as i want to see you in those boots!
For me they wer true to size.

Yeah, that's the problem, Sveta. "True to size" probably means I am between sizes, and then it is always a question of which way to go. 7s are often a bit too big; 6.5s are often just barely big enough and don't work with heavier socks. Hmmm.

I am thinking the 7 for you Suz. They were TTS for me- and I am usually a 9.5 but go with 10 in most boots as I did with the Pettys.

Not sure this will help you Suz, but I had ordered the suede and the python style in my normal size (I am ALWAYS a 9 1/2), the suede was perfect, a little tiny bit snug at first but suede is forgiving. The python style was not comfortable and went back, knowing that a 10 has never worked for me, the story ended there. I have a terrible and painful bunion on one foot and that rules my world.

Yeah...I do put insoles in, Nancy (with boots, anyway). But. They don't always do the job, depending on the boot. In other words, 7s can still sometimes be too big. Then again, not always. And sometimes with a boot some looseness is actually better. When you are wearing in truly cold weather your toes need to move. So 7s may indeed be better.

Carole, that is good information - thank you. Or maybe bad information...it suggests maybe the 7 will not work for me.

Oh - Shannon - if you are still there - how do the Lisles and the Pettys compare??? I HAVE tried on the Lisle. Are they similar in fit? The Lisle last just didn't seem right for my foot. It wasn't truly terrible, but it didn't feel right, either, in the 7.

The Lisle and the Petty do not fit the same way.

The Lisle for me felt somewhat more narrow and although comfortable, were bordering on being too narrow at the widest part of my foot (where the ball of the foot is). I was worried that they wouldn't work but they stretched enough on the first wearing to be perfect.

The Petty's were comfortable right out of the box even though they are the same size as the Lisle's. They were slightly wider and slightly longer. Plus I felt where the top of the boot skims over the top of my foot just before my toes has more room than the Lisle's - I can wiggle my foot a bit in the Petty's whereas the Lisle's are quite close fitting.

Thanks, Shannon. That is helpful. I might actually go with the 6.5. I can order that from Nordstrom so could return it. I can't return the 7 if I order that (because it wouldn't come from Nordstrom.)

Suz, our feet sound similar - mine are just a half size larger. I never know whether to get a 7 or 7.5. With the Pettys, I went for a 7, and they work well. I do not think I could get a thick sock in there at all, though. I suggest that you order the 6.5s, especially since it seems you can send it back without undue much trouble.

My hair is darker than yours, and I feel that the python Pettys work with almost any outfit I can put together. There is a surprising amount of "dark" in there! I think their perceived appearance can skew either way depending on the wearer.

I vote 6.5. I am almost always a 6.5 in the US. Very rarely a 6 and sometimes a 7. I take a 37 in most Euro shoes, and sometimes a 36.5. My Pettys are a 6.5 and I have long toes. Plenty of room. Plus I added an insole. I do not have bunions, and the width of my feet is neither narrow nor wide.

I know your shoe dilemma. I am always a Euro size 36. In US sizes, I am all over the place - 5.5, 6, 6.5?! Good luck with these booties. They are cuties!!

I vote 6.5 for you.

I am between 5.5 and 6, ordered the 6 on the off chance they fit (since they do not have 5.5 anywhere). And the 6's are comfy but too long. OTOH, I also ordered the putty color in 5.5 and they are perfect.

Good luck! I do think you will like them. They are not narrow at all, and very comfy. (I think a cushiony insole might be a good idea, the sole felt a touch hard.)

Wait a minute. I just found the Pettys in 5.5 at Nordstrom!! I wonder if their stock was just replenished?!?! Anyway, on to clickity click, esp now that I know they do seem to run TTS!

I am truly between sizes. I am somewhere between an 7.5 and an 8. I buy 8s for the most part. I found these run long. Since I have pretty stubby toes, I went for the 7.5 and they are very comfy. I see I am in the minority, however.

Zap, thanks for this. I also have shorter toes, and so I took Angie's advice and went for the 6.5. I think it will be the best choice in this shape of bootie. Fingers crossed!

I just know these are going to be perfect for you Suz - in both size and in style!
