Ask Angie: Should the red dress stay or go?

I am in my 40's with some extra on my upper arm ;( I usually play this off either with a jacket or sleeveless. Here is a LBD I have that seem to work

However, I recently pick this red dress up with cap sleeve and it seem a bit puffy and make my arm look big, or is it me?

Would it work if I just have my tailor making this sleeveless? Or the cut is off in general?

Not Angie....but thought I'd give my thoughts.
Both of these dresses look good and suit your body. However the sleeve of the red one sits on your arm at an awkward spot. The cap sleeve can be tricky for mature women. I think making it sleeveless like the black one would be more flattering for you....I believe your instinct is correct.

I agree with your thoughts. The cap sleeve would need to be released some. Making it sleeveless is a good solution.

Agree with the others on this one too. I think removing the cap sleeve would take the dress to fab. The sleeve fit would bother me too much to enjoy wearing.

p.s. By the way, what is the latest trend and rule about open toe in the office? Would something like this be too casual?
