Ask Angie: Pewter Brulees - yes or no?

I finally got on the pewter Clark Brulees bandwagon. My main concern was the thicker straps around my thick ankles, and you had mentioned that they should be low enough that it would be fine. Do you think they look okay?
Anyone else have opinions?

Hi, Sarah!

I have a slightly different opinion. These sandals are a bit tricky, in general. Esthetically, the pewter color and your lovely pedi look great. However, the Brulees are narrow in the toe area, have a dainty wedge heel, and come to a bit of a point in front. It's kind of an oddly-shaped footbed. That said, I think that these elements accentuate your ankles. Just my opinion. It could be the angle of the photo though. Ultimately, it's your call. What do you think?

I can see what Leslie is saying. They don't look terrible, and probably nobody else would ever notice, but if it makes you self conscious I would return them.

I think any ankle strap is going to "accentuate" your ankles, but I've seen your ankles in person, and I don't think of them as being "thick" at all, so I don't think there's any reason you should avoid wearing ankle strap shoes. Do you think it's one of those things that you haven't adjusted to seeing yet (meaning, you still see your ankles the way they "used" to be before you started your new healthy lifestyle)?

I think these Brulees look great on you, and seeing you and Patience in the pewter color makes me want to get that color, too!

I will take an outfit photo today and post a photo.
Ana, I definitely haven't adjusted to a lot of looks on me (I'm wearing a t-shirt dress with leggings today, what a different look for me!), so that's why I rely heavily on all of you experts right now. The shoes are very comfortable for sure, but I want them to look right too. I've been trying tons of sandals lately and so many of them just haven't worked.

Thank you everyone! I'm glad they are keepers. I've tried a myriad of sandals over the past few weeks and the process is getting tiresome. I like the color of these because I think they'll go with everything - a plus for traveling light!
Quick question... Should I be wearing a slip with a knit dress and knit leggings?
Ooh, another question (sorry!). Do you think stirrup leggings will work with these sandals?

PS: On my ankles. I know I don't have thin ankles, so while I want to avoid accentuating them as much as possible, I also realize that it's silly to be obsessed with something that really isn't that life altering. It's really difficult to find a comfy sandal that doesn't have ankle straps. Running has definitely slimmed my lower legs, but they're still....very much there.

I wear a slip whenever my dress clings or rides up my legs; sometimes it's needed when I am wearing hose, sometimes with leggings, sometimes it's not needed at all.
