Ask Angie: Oxfords and Hose

Hi Angie,

I am bursting to wear my new black and white oxfords (1 inch heel) and have been studying your posts and outfit pics this evening. I noticed that when you have worn your black and white flat oxfords with dresses that you tend to wear a sheer or fishnet black hose. I wondered why not an opaque hose? Is it just personal preference, do you find it more flattering, etc?

Ah! I never wear black opaque hose, Debs. I find the look harsh, un-crisp, and a little tired for very pale and blonde me - and my sense of style. In my opinion, opaques look best on lasses with dark hair. Textured sheer hose look much softer and prettier to my eye - when you look very Nordic like I do!

I do occasionally wear black stirrup leggings, but they have cut out ankles and heels which softens the look.

Remember, this is just my opinion. You are free to do as you wish. Wear black opaques if you want to. You wear A LOT more black than I do, and I've noticed that you like wearing it from head to toe - which is not a combination that I like to wear. So it makes sense that you would prefer to wear black opaques with your new oxfords
