What shape should I look for? This is my first cold season on YLF. I've always gone for the classic long bootcut trouser with a 3 inch pump or boot. Is this look still current?

I work in a stuffy federal office. I do think I could get away something slightly more casual than my standard office pants and button downs, but I hesitate, because I don't know how to put such a look together. Absolutely no jeans. This is DC for a weather reference. Any ideas would be welcome.
