Thanks Angie, and everyone! I appreciate the detailed replies! I am attaching a pic of my other pair of patterned pants that are cut sort of similarly (i.e., not meant to be slouchy). They are more fitted through the thighs (still not tight like a skinny jean or anything) and I think they look better.
With these, the high waist coupled with the looseness in the thighs, the croppedness, and the 100% cotton (so I know they will bag out more) makes me think of bad chinos, if that makes sense. And, since I have no real curve to my butt, the looseness through the thighs from the side view makes me look like I just go from flat butt to stocky legs, with no differentiation :).
How's that for TMI!
Also appreciate your thoughts, Angie, about the lighter top and shoes. That adds another nail in these pants' coffin, since I don't really wear light shoes, other than my beige snakeskin ankle strap sandals (which I did try and look okay-ish, but not great).
