So, I've been turning over hundreds of stones trying to get Winter white into my closet (background here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....white-tops). Today, I found the best top so far- not too yellow, not too sheer, not too heavy- I feel like Goldilocks, and I apologize the rub, it's a turtleneck. See tricky neckline manual. I need to hear some brutally honest feedback, because I don't trust myself. I need to course correct if I'm totally off the rails. I'm getting yet a third smaller size of the HL crossover pants to try, because I'm stuck on slouchy white bottoms, but here is the 2nd downsize, with plaid shirt.
1. Thoughts on the sweater (Madewell)
2. Thoughts on the HL slacks (even as I go down a size again)
They have not met each other yet, because the sweater is still at Madewell. I'm hoping for a head-to-toe Winter white outfit ultimately and multiple options for each piece. Thanks you for persevering with me...

Honestly - I like the sweater! You look so gorgeous in this shade of white! This type of turtleneck is very flattering for you and it is a nice fluid fit. Can you provide a link?
The slacks look good - not too tight. I am afraid one size down would be too snug for white.

Sveta, thank you for jumping in! I really value your feedback. Strangely -and I'm learning so much about retail- the sweater isn't listed online, that I can find :-/ I went to "your" Madewell in U Village. I'm inclined as you are that the smaller size might be too small, but want to be sure before I settle. As it is, I'll want to wear nude boyshorts to make sure all is copacetic.

I really like the color of the sweater on you, but am not crazy about the turtleneck. To me, it seems to swallow you.

I think that the size of these trousers look pretty good - although the back view looks a little short in the rise - or maybe, its just the fabric? The fabric looks rather thin - like you can see through it, which is pretty much a deal-breaker for me when it comes to white. It also looks like it wrinkles pretty easily. I've missed your other posts about these trousers so I apologize if these issues have already been discussed!

I like the sweater, and I find the loose turtleneck appealing.

I am on the fence with the pants, the fabric quality does not look great from the pics. I think in combination with the sweater the volume would be too much whereas j like the sweater and white jeans.

I have not seen your other threads so apologise if I have missed the mark here.

I think the sweater is very nice on you. I was reading a book on using different shapes and angles to offset varying perceived body deficiencies and here is what I read about t-necks (summarized a lot)

-not great if you have a short neck, good if you have an average neck and great if you have a long neck
- not great for a large chest but very good for a smaller bust
- a neckline that mimics the shape of the jaw will emphasize that shape. In this case the neckline doe appear to follow the shape of your jaw and emphasize but I think it works well and adds focus to your pretty face and nice jawline.

I won't comment on the pants. So much depends on the weight and drape and I just can't tell well enough in the pics.

I like the sweater on you! The pants seem like they are thin and not winter weight, plus they look like they could be semi-sheer. That is a dealbreaker for me, but if that doesn't bother you, then go for them.

I can see why you're looking high and low for a ww sweater-it is a fabulous color for you! I like the volume and fit of the tneck and while I personally prefer a more body con (neck con?) neckline, I think the neck looks good. My question would be is this cozy look okay for your head to toe winter white vision or did you have something more sleek in mind?

I like the turtleneck on you, it looks cosy and, to my eye, frames your face really well! I tried on a similar pair of pants recently and found them deceptive; because the front is so draped they appear big....but the fit around the back is actually fine. Did you try sitting in them?

Quite love that turtleneck on you Ann, with your hair colour a WW is a hit! Honestly not a fan of the pants - I think they are lightweight and thin, and thus show a lot (even your hands in the pockets are really noticeable) . The back fit looks a little off too. Perhaps in black or navy they would work better? Sorry to be a downer here, I know you really like the idea of them. I do too !

I quite like the sweater. If you are concerned about the shape of the neck on you, I think this can be modified with a necklace, if that's something you're into. Esp as the sweater is quite plain.

Not sold on the pants, I'm afraid. Sorry, I know how much you want them to work. It's mainly the thickness of the fabric - you can see those back pockets more than I like. And of coures the front ones as well. But I do suspect this is the size for you, any smaller would emphasize the thin fabric even more.

I almost love the sweater but am not sure about the turtleneck part - I think I would need to see more angles. I don't think the pants are a good fit - too big and too small if that makes sense.

More photos and angles for those who requested. The pants are a French terry and are sheer-ish in the way of most of the trousers I've found, but since I'm wanting to wear in Winter, I was thinking to layer over tights as a way to smooth out the jiggly bits.

As far as turtlenecks go Ann, this is a forgiving style because it doesn't wrap tightly around your neck. It's almost like a mini-cowl. I like the white pullover, and it has my blessing.

FWIW, I think the white pants are okay. I'm not all that partial to how the front flap crosses over and attaches lower than the rest of the waistline. That creates an odd outfit focal point to my eye. I MUCH prefer your white cowl with the white jeans. xo

More love for the sweater. I think cowls are very flattering as long as they aren't too overwhelming. This one looks perfect and the color is gorgeous on you. Really like how you styled the pants with the coat in 2. Nice!

OK all, I'm hearing you one the pants, and I think if I get the cowl/TN and wear white jeans as Angie prefers, it's probably enough statement without having to have a novel bottom sillouette :-). Thanks for the reality!

I'm a definite yay on the turtleneck -- that loose neck seems to work well on you. I'm a "meh" on the pants, but that is I think a personal bias when it comes to that style. They are hard for me to love on anyone.

My first thought was that I really liked the white turtleneck with the white jeans in the fitting room shot! The loose fit of the neck seems to work really well with your hair at this short length. Very attractive. The crossover pants look much better in the second group of photographs, to my eye anyway. You have styled them so well with your amazing pieces.

I've been without power a couple days so haven't been online until now. Just catching up with stuff. The cowl neck sweater is great. I understand your concern about the short-neck/turtleneck combo since I deal with that as well. But this cowl looks good...cozy without shortening. I am loving the high-low hem...really gives it structure. The pants, I am on the fence about. I think its the style in general, since I am not a fan of this particular detail. But if you are set on having the pants then these are pretty good. I like the sweater with the white jeans. But I think the two together would be too much statement in one outfit.

I thought I might be a spanner but I'm with Angie it turns out: I think the loose turtle is quite becoming (and I'm turtleneck phobic!)... but the pants feel meh.
I think that loose asymmetrical ease would be more at home in summer whites. These could look extremely bedraggled in winter, unless you are part of the 1% who has a hired car drive to drive you straight to the front door of every destination! I prefer the white jeans to the white crossover trousers.

I love the turtleneck on you. I think the loose fit is mitigating the usual problems associated with turtlenecks.

I also happen to think the HLs in this size look perfect. But curious to see how the smaller size works. They may need an inch or two shortened if you're not a stacking fan. If you love stack, then the length works well.
