I think that nude shoes do go with pretty much anything. I wouldn't wear it with black because its just doesn't look right, in my opinion. But everything else goes:)
I actually converted to "nude" shoes with black dresses last year. I really like it in the summer to lighten up basic black dresses and skirts. But I can totally get why Victoria doesn't care for it - I had to come around! And of course I like them with colors as well - really puts the focus on the color and creates a long leg line.
I wear black shoes with black outfits, and wear brownish taupe or espresso brown shoes with any outfit in which I feel needs to bookend my hair color. I don't have any "nude" shoes because I haven't been able to find the right color to blend with my skin. I did, however, just buy a pair of taupe sandals for summer. I have several pairs of lightweight taupe pants that they'll work well with. I'm sure the taupe shoes will also work well with light-colored dresses. I have some charcoal gray suede shoes and some medium gray boots as well that work well with certain outfits.
