Ask Angie: Length for VC Tube Skirt

I know I'm keeping the Vince Camuto striped tube skirt but need help determining the best length for me. Here are the options:

Pics 1-2: original length on skirt, unaltered
Pics 3-4: pinned up 2 inches
Pics 5-6: pinned up 4 inches
Pics 7-8: pinned up 5 inches

You had mentioned in my K/R thread you like the midi length with more taper on me - I tend to agree. But I want to make sure it isn't too long or too short. Can you help me please?

Not Angie but I like 5/6. At least for flats. If wearing a wedge, then maybe 3/4.

I think mine now falls somewhere between those two, but don't quote me.

I'm not sure what I think Angie - to be honest. I hadn't even considered full length. I just assumed it was too long.

I like the original length because it tapers more. If you shorten, it will loose that look unless you also taper.

Now that I see it on you I am going to try it full length. It is upstairs hidden from Mr Glory at the moment. hahaha

Well here is something amazing (speaking of Mr.'s) - I just asked mine what length he liked the skirt. And in between plays of the football game he's watching, he quite frankly stated he liked the longest length the best 'cause it's "more va va voom".

YES. With flats. Your shapely calves and ankles add lots of structure. I still vote original length as best.

Heh. Well, I like the long length, too. I tell you what, though, Shannon. See if it will take your strides. Mine, even at the length of yours at 3/4 (more or less) is a bit constricting to my walking pattern. It stretches and all. And is super comfy. But I can't walk quite as fast as I like!!

Glory, I am not discussing my Nordstrom's order with Mr. Suz until I have determined what I am actually keeping.

I prefer #1 too. Doesn't look too long at all. And it really keeps its nice shape (and emphasizes your nice shape) at that length. I just bought a navy with white stripe skirt from Long Tall Sally that hits me at the same leg area and I love it! It's not lined though, so probably not as good quality as the VC version.

Suz - excellent point about it being "stride proof".

Nicole - the VC isn't truly lined either. It just has two layers of the actual fabric.

So here's my plan then based on your helpful feedback: I'm going to keep the original length and wear it this way for a while. Test drive it, so to speak. See how I feel in it and how it works in practicality. If I find it really isn't working for me, I can chop two inches off later. Make sense?

At this point I just think I need my own credit card - maybe just a nordies card - that could solve a few problems, and I guess open a few cans of worms.

I liked all the lengths, especially if they can be tapered if shortened, but think your plan is best. If Mr. Shannon likes it vavavoom, go with it!
As to your other thread on sleeveless tops. I really like this black sleeveless top with the skirt. It's not sleeveless but I wondered if the first top (grey, yellow, black, white print) that you wore when you first asked about the olive orphan skirt would look good with this skirt. Doesn't it have a striped waist band or something like that?

Exactly, Glory! Both at once! I got the Nordies card for exactly that reason.

Fortunately, Mr. Suz has a sense of humour, and besides, he is an even more determined online orderer than I am. He just hasn't braved the wilds of Nordies yet.

In all seriousness, I'll probably keep 1/3 of what I ordered at MOST and if I did, it would be most of my fall/ winter shopping. So we'll see.

Oh! Thanks for posting the variations - it's wonderful to get visuals at the different lengths. I like 1/2 and 3/4 best. But I especially like your idea of test driving it as is and then seeing if it works or not. You can always shorten!
