Angie,

I am looking to replace my ruffle front Guess leather jacket and am torn between three options. Can you advise?

1. Your NAS pick - Marc NY front zip leather in black
2. Sam Edelman zip detail moto jacket in navy
3. Bernado front zip scuba in black as well (I actually loved it in cognac but it's sold out in size small)

I would love something versatile...that can be worn with both green or cognac cowboy boots and black suede heeled platform booties (Aquitalia), with NO silver hardware (gunmetal okay), and that will suit a long torso. (Tall order, and fit is most important...followed by hardware...I can be more selective about footware if necessary.)

Thank you for your exhaustive NAS lists, btw, especially the visual collections...I am thrilled with the Pendleton duffel coat - the fabric is so dreamy!

MPJ, good to see you! I can help a little with two of your choices. Between the Bernardo scuba jacket and the Marc New York jacket, the Marc NY wins hands down. The leather on the Bernardo is stiffer and doesn't feel quite as good, and IMO it seems to rely on seaming to give it structure.

The leather on the Marc NY jacket is fantastic. You know how supple the leather is on your Guess jacket? It's more like that. It feels fantastic on, and the fit is perfect. I'm shorter waisted than you, but the sizing in the regular Small was perfect. Unless you're extremely long-waisted, it should be be fine. For fit purposes, I'm including pictures of the brown colorway so you can see it on a real person.

Beth, it HAS been a while! Thanks for including your pix - may I ask if you are wearing a small or medium? I have been thinking about finding a brown or cognac jacket - for a softer look...but I get confused on footwear. Do you know the guidelines for coordinating browns/cognacs?

Glad to share! I'm wearing a Small, but could have sized up to a Medium to fit bulkier sweaters. It's funny that we're both looking at brown as a softer replacement for our black Guess jackets.

I have no idea what the guidelines are for coordinating browns, but maybe someone else can chime in and help us out!

I am comfortable with combining cognac with black, but what about the deep espresso of the Marc jacket...can that be combined with cognac or black footwear or does it look off?
