Ask Angie: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

Hi Angie, I was looking at product reviews for tinted moisturizers on the weekend and saw the Laura Mercier on a few lists. I am very sensitive to scents and have tried almost every brand of moisturizer and foundation/powder and haven't found much that works.

Does this one have scent at all? Is it really sheer?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Laura Mercier makes three(?) tinted moisturizers, and to my nose neither the regular nor the one with a little shimmer has much scent to speak of; I haven't tried the oil-free one. I HATE scented stuff. It took me a number of tries to get the perfect color on both, however, as MAs seem to want me to use a darker tone than looks good on me. Luckily, I was able to get quite a few samples at Nordstrom. I think the brand is also sold at Sephora, so that's another source for samples.

I use the original and have for years. I don't notice a scent and it is sheer, I love it! Sometimes I use the primer but not always and I do also love her translucent face powder.

I've used the original and oil-free ones and have always liked it. I don't notice any kind of scent, but I'm also not particularly sensitive there. In terms of sheerness, I definitely find that it gives less coverage than "regular" foundation.

I've been using this product for years and I love it. I do not notice a scent when I apply it.

It is lighter than foundation, and some BB cream.

I use this, too, and I have very sensitive skin that's prone to breakouts and rashes (yuck)! It's very light and I use it under bare minerals makeup because I have a lot of discoloration and pigmentation challenges and acne scarring.....on and on!

Another long -term fan here. I wear it in the summer only though as it doesn't provide enough of either moisture or coverage for the winter for me. No scent I've ever noticed. You can sometimes buy a smaller sample size at Sephora to try out.

I have a lot of chemical sensitivities (fragrances, and others that I haven't pinned down. Preservatives, also). I have had good luck with some Laura Mercier makeup but I still haven't tried the tinted moisturizer. I keep meaning to! It's very highly regarded.

For what it's worth, I've had very good luck with Bare Minerals powder foundation. Titanium in some products seems to irritate my throat, but not in that.

Thanks everyone. I bought new cream blush from MAC a few weeks ago and just realized that is why I can barely breath this morning and my sinuses feel like cement. Another one bites the dust.

I will see if I can get a smaller version since it sometimes takes a week or two before the headache starts.

I just picked up the travel size at Sephora -- if you can walk into a store it's in the section right by checkout where they have all the smaller goodies. I'm a huge fan; in fact I could have written what Lisap wrote. It's more a summer product for me but I like to have it one hand just in case (it's nice to put on in winter before the gym or errands, when I don't put on a full face). Never noticed a scent but I am not that sensitive.

been using it for many many years. love the stuff. i have sensitive skin also...the coverage is just enough. i dont use her primer any longer. it started "acting wanky" lol. i switched to estee lauder brightening primer. but still use the LM tinted moisturizer and love it! i have also used the oil free in the summer - no issues! no smell or odor either.
