Ask Angie: K/R Is this dress too resort, fattening or frumpy?

Hi Angie, and other forum members. I'm back in the USA but too exhausted right now to post my purchases, I will though. I didn't take many pics either so not too many WIW coming but I will do what I can. I still haven't posted WIW from before my trip so all in good time. I have a K/R that is urgent though.

Is this dress too resort looking? Is it me? Does it add weight to me?

From what I know of your style it could be you - leaning to the boho side a bit? I don't find it fattening or frumpy at all (though it would be hard to make you look frumpy!) and even though I am not a fan of maxi dresses I actually quite like it! For a beach party it would be super.

Thanks Suz. I guess it makes me look larger than other dresses I have. I will have to get photographed in my 4 new dresses from Australia so you can see what I mean. I could post pics of me in dresses I already have I suppose, for comparison.

This could just be me, but I am not a fan of the top part. I think the skirt is quite beautiful, but the waist on the top does not seem to be at your waist. Maybe it is supposed to be like this?

I am not sure your style, but it has a very boho vibe. Would look fun paired with strappy sandals.

Thistle it is slightly dropped at the waist. I think that is how it is supposed to be. I'm not sure if I love it either. Maybe it just needs getting used to but I shouldn't settle I suppose. I borrowed one in a different color from a friend in Australia & it was great for traveling, light weight, non-creasing & cool in hot weather, despite being synthetic. I wish I had better pics of the one I borrowed.

As far as the maxi dress goes: it does not add weight, and it fits into your bohemian style persona. In does look a little "resort-y". But that might not be a deal breaker in So Cal Beach Town.

I lean a little boho and I personally love it it doesn't add weight, it's just a different style and less body con than your other two, but you're clearly still slim and beautiful, and it really shows off your lovely arms - you look like a model, and I only wish I could wear this style so well!

Looks super on you. Not too bare either which can be an issue with these types of dresses. Just need a resort, beach party or little leather jacket tossed over for the "city boho girl" vibe.

I don't like maxi length skirts or dresses - but I think this dress is GORgeous! I love it! It shows off your beautiful collar bones and shoulders - and is ohhhh sooooo fine! If you're concerned about it looking too "resorty" how about trying some black ankle booties and a black cropped light-weight jacket? That might be really really cool!

Thanks Angie for the welcome & for the flattering comments from you & everybody else too. I will keep it. Though I find myself less boho lately, I haven't left boho behind yet & I do live in a California beach town as Angie mentioned.
