Ask Angie: how much slouch am I going for?

This is a follow up to my post from earlier.

I did it! I narrowed the trousers and am very pleased with the results. Now I need to hem them. Here are pics with the extremes - flats and heeled booties - turned up to the original hem. They look a bit long to me. How much more should I hem them, do you think?

Thanks for all of your encouragement, everyone, and I'm sorry to those of you who preferred the original cut : (. I will get much more wear out of them this way, I know already (when I'm all finished, I'll post a "how-to" post, a la Claire).

Wow, Sarah! You did a fantastic job! I'm always afraid to cut into nicer things since I have ruined my share. I love them, but I will let Angie and the others help you with the scrunch and length. I always wondered if you have to take volume from both sides of the leg to keep things even. Well, you have your hands full with the hemming. I'll wait patiently for the how-to post. Thank you. Again, this looks very professional to me!

This is just my opinion, according to my personal tastes, but I think you should hem them to the point where there is only the slightest bit of slouch left. Although in the case of skinny pants, I find the slouch more attractive than on a wider leg.

Love pic #3. The slouch looks awesome with those booties. The flats are nice and practical too. I think they can be perhaps 1/8 inch shorter but that's minutia.

I vote keep the slouch.

I'm a huge slouch fan but will let Angie chime in with the official opinion. I love they way they look in pic #3 with the booties. Fantastic job Sarah!

I am looking forward to the tutorial too... I have a box, yes a box, full of work pants 2 and 3 sizes bigger than what I am right now, to adjust for weight gain,when I quit smoking a few years ago. I don't seem to be able to part with them. They are really nice. I think there must be some great candidates there.

Sarah they look great! I have just had aother look at Angie's trousers from her post and I would suggest you have the right amount of slouch here. Having said that, personally I think you could go a tiny bit shorter, retaining the slouch but lessening the slightly bulky effect of the slouch. (does that make sense?). These are going to become a workhorse, no question.

I love those pants and how you've tailored them. I would go just a little shorter to retain some slouch but not look like they are too long. Maybe 1/2 inch or less?

I had missed your earlier post so I just read it now. I think you did a wonderful job with these. To me, I think they have just the right amount of scrunch so no need to hem but again, let us wait what Angie has to say. Impatiently waiting for the tutuorial.

First of all - wow! I am in awe of your skills, Sarah! Great job!
I have looked at Angie's picture in her new trousers from NAS and it looks like her trousers have the same amount of slouch as yours....

Thanks, everyone - yes, I think these have the same slouch as Angie's, but I wonder if I should have just a tad less, to make the slouch in proportion to my leg length (which is shorter than Angie's, obviously).

WOW! Woohoo! You did it! Well done! They look perfect to me, Sarah. Love the slouch. I wouldn't touch those hems until you've worn them. If they feel okay - go with this length.

Did you end up starting at the hip, or at the top of the thigh, or where? Sorry, I'll wait for the DIY instructions

I was one of the few who thought you should leave as is. After seeing what a fabulous job you did, I am more than happy to admit that I was wrong. They look so good, and I totally see the look you're going for. Great job! I can't wait to see your DIY post!!
