I have been nosying around your Pinterest boards and noticed you wished to try the below Audrey look, have you tried it yet? If so did it stay in place and did you wear your regular size? I'm so desperate to try this look with a white shirt and jeans.

This is a cool look! I bet with some safety pins it should stay pretty much in place.

Maybe i should try this. All shirts that fit me in the bust and hips are too big in the waist anyway, and this would use up some of the extra material there.

I've never seen this picture before. It looks like it's a regular shirt (not the "wrap" shirts of the last decade or so). I'm keen to try this too. I have a few unfitted shirts that might be big enough for a generous wrap. A DIY project for sure....it might require a few well-placed snaps for security.

Thanks for sharing Julie! I'm new to Pinterest and just clicked to follow Angie. Over the weekend I had a marathon pinning session (my DD later told me it's not polite to do this!) and I pinned a lot of Audrey and Grace. A few Diana as well. Loved her casual outfits. Cheers!

I did this with a sweater (it was $20 and pure wool, but and XL). The sweater is gone now, but I would actually tuck the whole thing in and it stayed well...I also used a brooch at about waist height to keep it in place. It looks like this is somehow knotted in the back at the side? I wonder if a nicely placed button would help, if one were to permanently dedicate a shirt to this look...

Neat effect! If the shirt were long enough and you tied around the waist, I wonder if you could actually tie the ends together at the back?

I loooove this look and have been doing it for decades!!! It's an awesome way for an hourglass/busty shaped lady to wear a button down shirt without looking swallowed up by fabric.

I've found the key is to make sure the shirt is big enough (a little or a lot oversized) and thinner, less stiff fabric helps as well (this blouse is silk crepe de chine). In my experience things will stay in place just fine as long as you have a fairly tight (not strangling, but snug) waistband/belt to tuck everything into.

The problem with using snaps or safety pins is that it's almost impossible to use them without it being obvious, thus destroying the whole casual 'this old thing, i just threw it on' vibe. I opt for just being aware of my clothing, using a snug belt, and adjusting when necessary (maybe every 3-4 hours).

Well done, Steph! I tried this last night and it was a big, hot mess! I think it might work better on gals with some curves. I would need to borrow DH's shirt, or get one dedicated to this look (and XL). I agree that snaps would wind up being obvious. And I don't think I could relax without them. *sigh* Oh well.

Claire, we both looked like a hot mess last night I tried the look with my roomiest shirt but I lost too much length. I am considering getting a white shirt for the purpose and sewing some ribbon on to the inside seem of one side and another ribbon to the opposite outer edge which would allow me to secure one part in place while casually tucking the other.

Steph, thank you for the illustration, your soft oversized blouse looks beautiful.

I just saw a pic of Anne Hathaway wearing a shirt like this. Now I can't find it. Anyhow, perhaps she drew inspiration from Audrey as well, with her short pixie hair now and all. Hmmm.

I love this look and Steph your version with a softer blouse looks lovely. We have a morning show host here that often wears her blouses like this. She is a curvaceous woman and it is just so flattering.

A question for Claire: Why is it not polite to pin a bunch of stuff?
I guess I didn't even know that there was Pinterest etiquette! Does she mean that you shouldn't repin too much of other people's stuff?

If it's your own finds why should anybody care how much you pin?

Parsley, I'm not on Pinterest, but I'm guessing that it would be like posting 25 status updates on Facebook in an hour. Anybody following you is going to be annoyed because you'd be flooding their feed. Ditto on Twitter. If you don't have any followers yet, I don't think that would be a problem. But Pinterest users might know something I don't.
