Ask Angie et al~ Do these boots look dated?

I have done a major boot sweep and am now down to *just* 6 pairs of knee high boots I'm a bit bothered by the toe shape of these boots does it make them look dated?

If they do look dated what do you think I should replace them with? I have the following other pairs of boots which are all flat x
Grey Docs usually worn over leggings
Black leather OTK usually worn over leggings
Grey suede slouch boots for wearing over skinnies

I'm going to say the first pair looks dated, the second still useable, and the third pair looks vintage keeper. But I have no real judgment, as I keep all my boots.

hmm,, I'd say yes, the first ones look a bit dated. The cognac ones being the "it" color right now are not. I'm on the fence about the third pair.... I'm thinking if you clean them up they could look really nice.

I say to keep the second and third pairs. They all fit you really well in the calf!

I actually thought the only keepers would be the first pair but it looks as though they are the only pair to be shown the door.
Becky thanks for the link, these boots could well be as old as the late 90's I really can't remember when I got them. The brown ones are totally square toed and chunky heeled x

Louise, the first pair seems just fine to my eye. They are not the most awesome pair of boots ever; however, you should consider keeping them in your back pocket (or closet) for odd occasions that may demand a pair of boots that you don't mind if they become trashed due to elements or other circumstances of misfortune. =) I have missed your posts.

I'm sort of ambivalent about all three pairs. Do you have a sentimental favorite among them? The third pair seems like the most versatile pair, IMHO.

hbaber32 those first ones are suede so no good for bad weather. Jonesy none of them are sentimental x

If you can afford to, maybe think about replacing them then! Your other, more recently-purchased boots are so fab--these just aren't up to those in terms of stylishness. Maybe replace with a new chestnut pair, if you think you'd wear them lots...Or a pair of sleek black ones with a teeny bit of a heel, just to fill a different hole than your OTK flat black ones.

I think the first and the last pair look more old than dated.Although I also wear boots and shoes that don't look so great anymore I realize that a nice looking shoe does wonders for the whole outfit.
I would just keep the chestnut ones if you think you're going to wear them in spring.

The first pair look dated FOR YOU. The second pair is borderline FOR YOU.

Thumbs up on the last pair. I have a pair of boots with fewer gizmos than that and I still wear them - very, very comfy. I've demoted them to ultra casual settings though.

No, I've always had way too many boots and shoes to warrant a wish list LOL and felt guilty wanting more. But have had a MAJOR cleanout so getting rid of those 2 pairs leaves me with 4 pairs of boots unheard of for me!!!! I guess I'd like a small heel dressier black pair and perhaps some cognac ones x

I love all knee-high boots and couldn't tell you what was dated etc. Just wanted some clarification. What do you mean Angie by they are dated for you? Are you saying that whether something is dated depends on the person wearing the item?

Sally I think it does depend on the dresser. I'm not really a classic dresser so they probably look dated with my outfits but perhaps on someone with a more classic style they would look fine x

I think the last pair are keepers. They've got that rugged, biker look that always seems to hold its own.

I'm not very enthusiastic about the first two pairs. The center seam and squared toes seem dated. Having said this, however, they are the focus of scrutiny here. Teamed with an outfit, and out on the street, they'd probably be fine.

I'd keep them if I were you, "just in case" ... but then - I'm a boot hoarder.

Megan those are gorgeous but are very similar in style (being lace up) to my docs I also have a pair of calf length worker boots with laces.
I'm thinking I may also try to replace the last pair. I have worn a hole through the lining with my little toe and after wearing my docs (with no hole) I noticed how uncomfortable the lining is. So I'm thinking replace the last pair with another biker/riding type black boot, a cognac pair and a slightly dressy pair with a little heel. Think I may be waiting till next autumn to begin the search as the summer shoes are coming into shops but at least I now have a wish list, thanks all x
